Will this be good enough?
What are your goals…how much do you want to press, and how frequently? Will pressing save you money elsewhere?
Yes, it will save me money if i can press my own. I only plan on small amounts. Ive never pressed before. This is why i am asking here. I need the low down. I dont even know how much an ⅛ oz in a press would make…? I dont want to have to spend $300.00 for one either. Would this press in the pic serve its purpose? Looks like id only be able to press an ⅛ with it.
@anon34311147, do you mind if I ask some questions in this thread? I’m looking into this as well.
Check this out, very first review.
I got one and i freaking love it! Def beats the f outta using a straight iron bc you can put alot more lbs of pressure and it has a timer too so thats a plus.
Also you def cant fit an 8th in it at one time. I usually do like a gram-gram and a half at a time but i just love the whole process too
Go right ahead sir. Your more than welcomed to chat along… ask away… its anyones thread…thank you!
Thanks, same topic different questions.
I have a hydraulic press, so I just need the plates. I am looking for a large set of plates, maybe 4x7 or so.
Is there a decent caged set of plates at a reasonable price out there?
If not, how about the heating elements, thermocouples and controller?
I can’t remember but isn’t @ChittyChittyBangin the dap guru? If so maybe she can assist
I googled rosin press parts and came up with all kinds of stuff to make your own rosin press.
So did I. Information overload… lol.
Thats why I came back here to ask folks who may have “been there done that”. A point in the right direction would save me a lot of time researching. I’m gonna do enough of that regardless.
Price range is crazy from a few hundred to several thousand. And anything with rosin in the title is crazy priced, they think they’re selling to a bunch of stoners.
Look at dabpress. They have caged plates i believe, but youd be better off just buying the piece of equipment. The whole press is about 350 bucks give or take and if you can find them on sale, even better.
i bout spit my drink out…
BTW @1LuckyMF
A 4 ton press is plenty for hobbyists like us. I press so much that ive already paid for the press 10 times over…
How many ounces a month are you pressing? What would you do today if you hadn’t bought that, but know now what you didn’t know then?
I looked at dabpress, it’s 350 just for the plates I want. Close to 600 for the whole thing. I already have several hydraulic presses including a 20ton rampak.
The reason I ask about the internal parts… I worked as a machinist early in my life and some how ended up with a mill in my garage. I have piles of all different types of metal laying around. Kind’f a curse sometimes, be a lot simpler to buy stuff it’s just hard to come off the cash when I know I can build it.
But yes, the dabpress link was saved to my favs.
LOL, I’m not commercial but “hobby” ehhh… I don’t know if I fit that description. I can easily go through an oz a week.
Ill press up to a half lb a month sometimes… i go through alot of dab because its so much easier to conceal than flower and im on the road alot.
Thats why i press different strains. Ill build a tolerance up to one strain and rotate it to the back and start with a new strain. Also with dab, its alot easier to make edibles and carts ect…
@1LuckyMF we have a few 20 ton presses and even have a 10 ton dabpress hooked up to a hydraulic motor at the other shop. I prefer manual so much better. Being able to control your pressure manually has helped my yield tremendously.
