Right or wrong grow #7

Okay I been considering starting a journal because I have been growing almost 3 years and 6 other grows, sounds like a lot but only 13 plants and I feel like I have done pretty good considering what I have to work with. I’m an old man and have to grow in a closet of my apartment as I can’t have any odd stuff going on or tents, vents, nothing. When pot became legal here I desided to grow ( can’t afford dispenseries) and I found ILGM grow guide, learned some basics and bought a couple 300w blurpes, seeds from a seed bank and tried my hand, my first plant was 19 inches tall and I was so happy to get 2 ounces of bud!! It was good smoking but my bud were airy. I knew something was wrong so I did more research and desided to do more to help plants by adding nutes and co2. Heres my conditions, I use 12" pots, with miracle grow potting soil, I have old 300w mars hydro (actually 140w) led, I use a growth accelerator call speedy veg, from seedlings till starting grow fertilizer from flower power, grow and bloom. Have a 2x4x5 inclosed grow space, no ventilation, only a 6 inch clip fan. This gro I am doing 2 autos and one photo, pineapple express auto, Amnesia haze auto, and a ilgm super skunk photo. I am 3 weeks in and will show pics.

closet week 1 week 2 today… white light pics today pineapple super skunk amnesia. I only use one light till about week 5. I know what I have has limitations, lights only good for small (less than 32 inch plants) pot size for small plants, and dealing with mg soil lol… I wanted to say if a guy does it right it can work, I get two ounces per plant of good tight colas. I hope you all follow along and give advice understanding I am pretty much in a place where I am repeating myself with different plants. I start my seeds in soil, I put a seed 3/8 inch deep, take a 8 ounce cup of well water pouring around seed so it wets area about 3 inches around and about 6 inches deep. Pre wets soil before roots start looking for moisture, allow to dry on top only wet top if drying. Mg soil is hot but watering to the size of plant keeps from nuking the little ones, only wetting the soil the size of the plant every 3 days or so. Going around and as deep as I emagine the roots are each watering till I get run off around week four, by then the plants can handle the nutes in mg soil. My pineapple is where I like them to be at 3 weeks, amnesia is a little thin and longer than I like. Share more as I go along, hope you all follow along.

Welcome.
Using less light during veg is fine. They need a lot less when vegging than they do flowering.

While one can get yields using mg soil, the quality is typically much better using a cannabis specific soil.

The took great and it sounds like you have your grows dialed in. I’m going to come along for the ride if you don’t mind.

Only thing our hardware store carries is mg, and I can’t get large deliveries because of nosey neighbors, so I’m stuck with mg

If you’re happy with your outcome, why change.

Same thing on my first grow. Have you considered upgrading lights. Of coarse nutrients plays a part in having dense buds, but having sufficient lighting will also help. Good Luck with your grow I’m set to watch. :+1:

That’s why I started this journal, I want to find answers as to how I do get nice tight buds? I wish I could do a hlg 260 in my space, 12 out of 13 plants since adding nutes and co2 bag had dense. I only have about 20 true watts per square foot, and I know you should need 35 to 50? I read a lot on here, and I’m confused lol

Rule of thumb is 50w/sq ft when using blurples, hps, cmh
35w/sq ft with qbs, newer cobs, and light strips.

Even if you kept power the same, getting into some lighting with higher efficacy would help some. I do kinda agree with whoever said no need to change anything if you’re happy with what you’re doing. I’m working on a space now that 90% of people here would say isn’t large enough to grow in, and I’ll grow multiple plants in it. This goddam kung flu is killing me on shipping times though.

They look good, I just wanted to say if you wanted to increase density, better lights would help. But like @Drinkslinger pointed out, the main thing is that you are satisfied with results.

Sure do! I’m rooting for you @Dennis62! And I agree with the gang, do what you’re comfortable doing and makes you and your plants happy!
As for bud density, @dbrn32 gave me, last summer, relatively the same advice he just gave you. So I change my blurples for slightly better leds and now I have a lot more buds and more density too!

Happy growing

Yep I know what you mean, I have been waiting on fertilizer from Netherlands or someplace taking forever. It’s pretty crazy. … yes I can grow 3 plants less than 32 inch tall, and is challenging.

I’m thinking you should get way more than 2 zips off of plants like that. The shorty on the right should be a 2-3 ounce dry plant. Two plants on left should be 4-5 easy.
