Reviews of Mars SP 3000? What would you buy today?

This light came with my grow tent kit. It’s seems just ok. Maybe it’s user error. I did recently get a light meter and the readings indicated I had it too far away. So I’m waiting to see what difference that makes but in general I feel like something is lacking. it’s my first light so I have nothing to compare it too.

Someone said they thought the flower looked light starved. Showing pics.

Autos right now but want to try photos. 2x4x6 tent and growing in soil.

What light would you buy today? Best bang for the buck?

I’d say the HLG 260 xl kit. @KoolHandLuke uses 2 of them in a 4x4. Hands down the best looking grows I’ve seen since I’ve been on here. My opinion of course lol.

Lighting is so technical I really don’t understand the details or how to understand the specs.

I’m learning myseld bro.
@dbrn32 is the person to ask about all things lights. He just helped me tremendously on Monday with my purchase.

Best bang for your buck while having good customer support probably something from horticulture lighting group refurbished section.

@dbrn32 can you recommend a good learning resource so I can start to understand how much light I need for my space. Based on my meter this light is giving enough light but something is def not dialed in on my plants. I guess I need to eliminate my ph problem first lol. How do you really know if a light is good though?

I would start with Bruce Bugbee videos on YouTube.

This is probably more of n issue than the light.

I think you harvesting to soon and you not feeding them enough of nutrients to get them bigger . You shoukd be able to run that light 18 -24 inches above canopy and get 3 ounces per plant eady with 300watts . If not more you have to get your pre-flowering time and budding time figure out more precisely and give them 9 weeks if you count from the light flip .

@yoshi thank you. These are autos so no light flip. I took light readings and have the light closer then I’m comfortable with but it says it’s ok.

@BigItch Agreed. I thought I was ok cause I’m using living soil and organic terp teas for nutrients, and distilled water. But it’s running at 6.9 when I checked run off last week. I have organic ph down on order. And also plan to increase my nutrient schedule as @yoshi recommended.

Im on my 3rd grow with a Sp3000 in a 2x4 and autoflowers. Ive averaged 14oz of good, pretty dense buds each run. I wouldnt replace the light unless it was broken. If i was to replace it, i would buy a HLG 350R though

@CooterJuice ok, good to know!!! I am getting sub par crop in both yield and quality I think. Gotta get the ph lowered I guess and see where that leaves me. The organic stuff is taking forever to get delivered. I’m not even yielding 1z per plant in most cases. Something is wrong lol but I’m glad it’s not the light. Do you use a light meter? How far do you keep your light during flower? My tent is full so I don’t line them up directly under the light. Instead I make sure the main colas are specifically not directly under the light.

I do use a light meter. With autoflowers i push them as hard as i can from week 2-6 of flower running around 60 dli. Which is around 14" from my top of canopy. Then back it off as soon as i see any signs of foxtailing. Of course though you need to make sure your environment and nutrients are on point to push them that hard. Giving them alot of light during stretch will keep your plants a little more compact as well. Here is a pic of my last run, Ilgm Sour Diesel Autoflower

And this is my current run on day 77 from sprout. Sweet Bourbon Auto Kush

Im not telling you what light but if you follow this ppm chart in each growth stage , I guarantee you will have huge big ass buds big than your dick Sir , its a proven method that works , your job is to find that right ratio in ph and ppm for each growth stage and feed them . You learn this by reading the plants growth progress.

@CooterJuice looking good. Are you using lst?

Yes lots of Lst!! I dont top my autos anymore. I just start lst as soon as they are tall enough to make that first tie down, typically day 14-20.

@yoshi seems so complicated but I will learn lol.

I just tied a baby down at 14 days! (2nd grow) I waited till her older sisters got taller, and let’s just say well developed stalk doesn’t bend… (not yet ready to try supercropping). It looks good but I am of course “first time” nervous about it.
