I mix them, the cal and mag sulf are separate but it’s funny were on this topic.
I think I have found a new nutrient line that I want to try. I looked at the analysis of GH line and I wasn’t really gaining anything that I didn’t already have. @the2409labs you were the one who had me read up on more advanced nutrients Wich led me down the path of humic acid and kelp in a 5:2 ratio thanks to vergina tech.
I’m looking at NPK series now they have what looks like an amazing line of dry nutes.
I could keep my same nutrients and just add the kelp and humic acid but the majority of the time I’m away and the wifey is doing the feeding so I might just buy their grow and bloom so it’s easy on the wifey. It has the humic and the kelp in it so that’s why I’m liking it.
Thoughts?
Update super expensive compared to chem gro 4-20-39… Might just buy the humic and kelp after all, it just ends up being 5 different nutes (even though the humic and kelp are only used once a week. This is because chem gro separates their cal and mag sulfur due to many commercial growers wanting to buy it local
Let me research that line on the overnight and give you an educated response. I really want to put my thinking cap on about this - the most effective and simplest dry nute products that don’t involve an absurd amount of prep and mixing in order to keep it doable for wifey. I’ve got a few products in mind but I really want to give it some good thought.
And you’re DEFINITELY looking for a dry nute? Would you consider a liquid so long as it covered your bases and didn’t require you and wifey to spend your lives mixing nute solutions?
It doesn’t have the humic acid and kelp.
Why don’t you use the npk?
So far from what I’ve seen it’s the bear it’s just a bit pricey (haven’t done the math to see if it’s worth it though)
I need to purchase it to add it to my current mix…
Strange you didn’t get results, I’ll look into them more tomorrow. Thnx for your advice and experience with them.
Well hold onto it maybe one day we will both be part of the lab and I’ll send you some seeds.
These 1970’s Columbian and Cambodian genetics my father gave me are on my mind everyday right now I have to grow them and see if they are crazy good or crazy bunk haha
@Nicky I noticed that you are REALLY hung up on the kelp and humic acids and I definitely understand your minor obsession. It’s a hot topic right now and because of that they’re the new thing for science to fan girl about and over saturate us with.
Don’t get me wrong, they are important but I’m a bit worried that you’re starting to tunnel vision about the subject and might be missing out on some other really great nutritional products in your mission to “humictify” (not a real word, lol) your grow.
So I am wondering what you have read or seen or heard that’s got you so juicily enticed. And please understand, I am not challenging you. You’re not wrong, by ANY means. At all. But I’ve gotten caught up and obsessed with certain elements and molecules and the hottest new scientific study before like a cadaver dog searching for Jon Benet Ramsay (too soon?? Lol) and I learned my lesson.
What about the humics/fulvics has you hot on the scent? Like, what features or properties interests you the most? (I ask this inquisitively, not confrontationally with a friendly tone.)
You know me with my chemistry so I love this stuff. :-)
Your right I am really hung up on this currently, I also can recall when I was hung up on things and then learned more and realized I was making a bit of a mistake even though I thought I had all my ducks in a row (it happens to all of us)
So I appreciate your efforts to understand and question me on this or anything really because it forces us to all fully understand something so well that we are able to teach it to others.
To boot your way to to nice and take what seems like every step to assure your not stepping on any toes haha, if people were mad off topic on my grow journal it was bug me a bit to be honest.
The reason I also think NPK’s nutrients looks good is it has silica in it, this helps bud density (but I’ve yet to research this for myself yet).
Although compared to chem gro 4-20-39, general hydroponics maxi bloom /kloobloom and others it has a very low P/K… But a bloom nute with a 0-3-3 ratio is generally seen as suitable hence canna boost and their pk 13/14.
Npk all in one flowering/bloom nute has the humic to kelp 5:2 ratio, has silica, includes the cal & mag sulf, and its ratio is 3-12-12…
Its a little more nitrogen then I think one needs in the ratio but I’m a newb and only comparing it to what I’ve seen.
@Nicky thx for the compliments. They’re about 1.5 months. Been in flower for 6 days haven’t seen them in 2 days.lol the canna works for me maybe down he line I’ll look at powdered. Canna has an organic line of what I’m using might give that a go eventually.
@Nicky
I feel like a dunce for getting started on this conversation and having to skip out for a bit - I have a bit of a situation at the hydro farm that needs immediate attention, so I have to go take care of that.
I don’t want to rush a response. You deserve my full attention and not some half-a$$sed spout. So, If you don’t mind, I really want to delve into this with you but it has to be a bit later in the day. Is that cool?
@Nicky I’ve seen the Maxi Bloom but never used it. The only dry nutes I use right now are mega crop, the fox farm trio at flower(open sesame etc.) and sometimes Super Bloom by scotts. I’ve come across people growing Blue Dream needing more Nitro so good to know & thank you
You know how it is, all this pampering, specialty nutes, organic nutes, synthetic nutes, no nutes… what ever the girls want…lavishly bestowed upon them
after a reasonable while (2.5+ months) that all comes to an abrupt end and its time to adapt
Yeah I hear you, if you have something it sorta sucks to buy something else to do the same job. So you want to use it all up (man my 5lb bag I think will take me 10+ years to use up and it only cost me 80$ haha)
Organics eh… I worked on an organic farm and even the owners loved GMO’s they just knew they made more money with organics haha, over priced hog wash if you ask me it’s all just atoms feed it right and that’s all that matters I say. I have yet to see one piece of scientific evidence that organics are better in anyway. Now if you build a greenhouse then go live soil for sure but indoors meh.
By the time you look at powdered I’m sure I will have researched almost all of them under the sun with @the2409labs help!
@the2409labs totally, don’t rush it. I’ll be here when you have time and we will all learn together.
@Mote dry has such an advantage I think liquids are pure marketing and sales. It may be harder to make a dry mix but I don’t know for sure.
Ultimately I think it’s important to pamper my autos because they are so limited, photos you can be rougher with for sure.
as Good a reason as any (what’s the strain & I guess they dont make it any more?) and by all mean do Pamper them, I’m guilty of it as much as the next guy.
Photos can be put through a lot more in theory but take care of em all.
Its an interesting subject, and someone is always trying something new which is cool., how I learned about Captain jacks, tribus etc.
I’m finishing up some of the nutes I have from previous grows, will add some new ones and just go on from there. I know some people here are having incredible results with certain products which are worth considering.
The most expensive canna I use is the boost. Its 70 dollars a litre. But it seems to work. I use canna flora, ryzotonic, cannism, boost calmag and soon canna pk 13/14
