1st time grower... Please please please provide advise and follow me on this journey

Hello Fellow Growers,

Today is the date! After reading and trying to “educate” myself into growing cannabis, I received my seeds today. It’s important to say that this is my first time growing anything. I have 0 experience. I have spent many hours on the forum reading all your advice to fellow growers and looking at y’all pictures. I’m so excited to start this journey! I just started the germination process for my ladies. I used distilled water with a pH of 6.3. I will need TONS OF HELP!
My set up would be Mars Hydro tent kit 2.3 x 2.3, ts1000, two fans (one on the floor one above the light). I got FF Light warrior for seeding and Happy Frog. I also got the three amigos (big bloom, tiger bloom, grow big) for nutrients. I have a pH and a PPM reader as well.

I will be using fabric pots (5gal). I will be using ¾ of FFHP and ¼ FFL for my medium.

When the seeds germinate and are ready to plant, do I leave the lights on 24hrs until they come out of the medium? Or should I use the 18/6 light hour schedule?
What advice does y’all have for me? I started germinating Girls Scout Cookies Extreme, Banner, and Gorilla Glue (1ea).

BTW Y’ALL ARE THE BEST

I let my seeds sit under 24/0 light until all are up and showing leaves, then set it back down to 18/6 for veg.

Sounds like uve done ur homework and i look forward to watching ur first experience! Happy growing!

Also dont pH distilled water. Its so low ppm wise, it doesnt hold pH so much as taking the pH of its medium.

@PurpNGold74 thank you for the reply and advice! I have one question, my TS1000 is dimable, which setting I should use for the light for the seedling process? 25, 50, 75 or should I go 100%?

Hey congrats and I agree with mod above it seems you have done your homework, But I things jump out, you said you have 2.3x2.3 correct, 27in by27 in right. The first thing to me that jumps out is 1 that light can only do about 1 plant or a 2x2 space, with 3, 5 gallon pots it’s doesn’t leave much room in there for anything else I know, I have the spider farm version of that kit, came with the add-1000 light. That can handle that space, but you will not in my Opinion and I hope I wrong have enough space to get 3 plants all the way to harvest. You can start them out in there but you will quickly run out of room. I’m speaking from experience, unless you plan for them to grow strait up and not get very bushes. I hope I’m wrong but I did the same thing. I tried to do 3 autos in a 27x27 and quickly realized no space. Each plant will need roughly it own 2x2 space, where’s some pics of my first grow when I ran into the same problem

Those pics where taken when they where about 30-40 days old, you can tell no room for anything else and they got bigger, I had to upgrade to a 4x4, and that was meant 2 things 1 more $ for a bigger tent, and more $ for a bigger light where I my guys at week 12 ish in a 4x4 not the best pics but hope you get what I shooting at, Please someone if I am wrong tell me I would hate to be giving bad info, this is just my opinion

The 2x2 is the important number. However many plants you cram in that space, the yield is basically the same. You can spread one plant out in that space or keep three compact. I ran into that problem also with a plant that got bigger than I expected and I lost some yield because I hat to keep it tight to make room for her room-mates. I have since “modified” my 32x32 tent into a 32x48 grow space using a light colored tarp and unzipped/opened one side of the tent. This is before I got the tarp for the front side.

So Im glad homegrower chimes in like I said hate to give any bad advice, so don’t be down and out just yet, you might just have to be a little extra creative, which to me just means more fun, and experimenting and doing is the only way to learn. I’m sure your seeing that you can read everything but there nothing like doing in opinion. Pleas keep us posted and as you know this forum is awesome and we all have your back and are ready to help.

Update, 2 of my 3 seeds have started to germinate. I will plant them tomorrow. One seed hasn’t opened up yet. Should I wait or discard that seed?

Wait. Some seeds are just slow to show up. If u want to be certain u have a certain amount on a certain rotation, just drop another. But dont give up.

I was germinating 2 of the seeds I got from my buddy’s herm plant but they both crapped out. One only got a tail with no cotyledons and the other only had cotyledons with no tail the rest rotted. I am about 0 for 6 trying to start in a small container. I do better going straight into forever home which I will do with the 2 Bubba Kush sprouts I have in paper towel now. Just waiting for longer tails.

I am currently growing one plant in a 2x2 tent as well and as you can see from the pictures below that even for one plant it is a tight fit.
I get what your talking about wanting to utilize space. My wife gave me a limited space to work with in out closet (also illegal to grow state, but legal to smoke. Lol) would have fit big tent, but wouldn’t let me take the upper shelf out.

At least it keeps the plant confined within the “footprint” sweet spot of your light. Waste not want not.

@HMGRWN Thanks! It’s about as high as I’m comfortable having the light with it’s fans being on top and would have to run straps under the light at that point. Lol
My wife bought me this smaller tent after I already had the 3x3x6 but didn’t want to take down one shelf. Now with the programmable warm and cool humidifier SHE wants to get me, need the bigger tent :joy::joy::joy:
