Ready to flip to flower?

Morning folks is there any special markers or recommeded height, size requirements before you typically flip to flower on your photos?

Just curious if these guys would be ok to flip? My grow area gets to hot once i run into spring time temps so trying to avoid heat issues.

Hi there. Sometimes they double in height unless u do some lst and hst. Be sure of your light height.

There really is no marker. Normally after a photo has reached its 6th node it can be flipped. There are those that flower photos nearly right off the rip. Yours look mature to me and you may flip them to flower as you wish. :call_me_hand::call_me_hand: just remember the earlier you flip the smaller your buds and yield will be. Gotta find the balance of short bushy and too tall maxing out height restrictions. :pray:t2::pray:t2:

Based on the space they’re in now would be the perfect time :+1:

When to flip is up to you, but as @beachglass said, they CAN double in height so watch your verticals!
I like to make sure they have a good spread and an even canopy thru training. I like to keep mine short and don’t use any nets, that way I can still spin them and pluck what needs to come off and maybe bend a tall branch down a bit more. I also work backwards on a calendar. I flipped mine a couple of days ago so that they will be done end of March, early April. That leaves me just enough time to put some egged plants back into the flower tent and be finished early August. Everything I’m growing has to be dried, burped and sealed up by end of August (leaving country for several weeks, shop closed!).
I’ve also put young plants to flower if I have no room for them, more of a shits and giggles thing since I refuse to kill any female. I’ve had plants yield a couple grams each before, and made up storyboards with Lego guys with them! Ya, I do too many drugs but I have fun!

Just flipped this…5 plants in a 4x4

Thanks for the answers folks. For those oranic soil growers im guessing its recommended that i amend my soil with some dry bloom amendments a week or so prior to kicking them in flower? So they can go into stretch with proper nutrients?

Flip for me is all about the end game. Plan on a doubling in size so you won’t be f’ed when they grow up into the lights and beyond….

Should I also adjust my vpd to 1.20 as I flip to flower? Currently running at

@TrapPlay26 You are out of my wheelhouse now my friend. I speak to them and they respond accordingly. I draw the line at timers, hydrometers, ph and tds meters. Well now I’ve got a scope coming in and just bought a wood moisture meter :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy: someone will be able to answer that for you…….

I started down that technical road. Looked at the tools I needed to measure and accomplish basic VPD targets. In the end I said enjoy the plants and growing. I am not trying to make a living doing this. And try to get the basics as right as I can. So I keep temps 70 - low 80s. Humidity higher during veg and as low as I can during flowering.

@Fieldofdreams then what did I do wrong? Two days before flip 11/10/22

Present Day +-:

Was it putting the light like 14 inches from the canopy at 100% for the first 2 weeks of flower that kept them so short? Or that crazy tie down I did just as I flipped?

Why so short??? :pray:t2::pray:t2::100: please and thank you.

Any idea on par level with those lights at 100% at the 14 inch distance? What were you running percentage wise and distance prior to the switch? Tie down LST look great.

May be the strain but you topped and trained so that would be my guess

@TrapPlay26 I ran at 50% for the entire veg at 30 inches. When I flipped I purchased the Photone app and kept my DLI around average of 45 for the first week at 24 inches then I dropped it to 13 inches DLI was 48 out 62 in the middle. I bleached my Gorilla Glue and she went into a nearly instant nute deficiency. The only one that didn’t starve was the Blue Dream.
Thank you very much for the compliments. :pray:t2::pray:t2: This was my first lst scrog I did do some cropping at the end.

Thank you @Bluntsmoke. I am letting those three Wedding Cake autos in the tent stretch. I’ve never grown autos and they’ve been in the flower tent their entire lives. I’m going to train my next grow too. But I’ll let her stretch. :100::pray:t2::pray:t2:

Hey there @Fatz1973 i don’t have a good answer to that except genetics plays a dominant factor. The doubling rule is in general because you hang out here long enough you’re bound to see tons of plants reaching growers lights lol. Better safe than sorry works for me lol.
