Questions on my grow and sharing pictures

Hello fellow growers. I was hoping to get some advice and show my grow. I have two plants, both feminized seed from ILGM, one on the right is Pure Indica, one on the left is Grand Daddy Purple. They are both in a 13 gallon fallponic system with the reservoir inside the 4 x 4 grow tent. The light is a HLG 350R quantum board, about 12-15 inches above the canopy. I have been doing LST to make the branch push to the side more. I also topped them awhile back to make the top two main branches. I kind of show this in the picture where I have my hand trying to show the center of the plant. I have done a few very light pruning of nodes deeper inside but as you can tell, they are still extremely short, compact and bushy.

Both side by side:

So here are my questions, and I am happy to post any other information or better pics.

  1. Are these this bushy because at 10 days they were under this light and ramped that up to 100% in just a few days as apposed to the light being weaker, more distant, etc.? This is my second grow, and by far these are much bushier and compact. Is there such a thing as too compact when in the vegetative stage? Should I have used the light at 60-80 percent to stretch them more? I also improved my equipment and techniques.

  2. I want to start flower soon, very soon, but should I started to prune more inner nodes like the one I am pinching and maybe even another set of nodes closer to the apex before I do or should that come during flowering when they stretch more? If I do prune before flowering, should I give it a few days before I change the light cycle to recover?

  3. Some of you may laugh, but for nutes, I just use Masterblend, a three part combination of a 2-2-1 ratio of Masterblend - calcium nitrate - Epsom salt. Right now, I have the PPM at about 1400, PH 6.1. I check this every single day to keep it there.

Any advice is appreciated and thank you in advance.

What’s your temp/RH?

Welcome to the forum!
For now, you can definitely remove some lower growth. Anything that’s questionable whether you want to remove it or not, you can leave it for now, because you can do another cleaning up on her 2 weeks after you flip them.

Temp is always in the 70’s and humidity fluctuate between 55 and 70%. If you see the fan there, that is blocking into a 5 gallon buckets with a atomizer inside for humidity.

Agree with @Cap_Ron …and

keep the fans going 24/7 and try to keep that RH no higher than low 60s% if at all possible as the weeks progress.

Thank you for the help. If i do prune nodes, should I give it a couple days to recover before switching light cycle or not necessary?

It’s not critical either way, but yes, I’d wait a few days. You want them to get the best possible start to bloom phase, so letting them recover from any training or defoliation before you flip is a good idea.

I would recommend raising the light several inches. Do you have a light meter, if not check out the smart phone app called PHOTONE. Setting the lighting parameters with a meter by the growth stage would take the guess work out. For defoliation I thin them out before changing the light cycle to 12/12 then another clean up at the end of week 3 and 6. You’re doing great Grow Bro :love_you_gesture:
