I have a 4x4 tent with a brand new 6in vivosun intake fan with speed control and carbon filter. I closed the tent and turned it on and I swear it was about to suck the sides together and bend the bars, on the lowest setting. Is this supposed to be this strong? Am I supposed to have the vents open on the tent so this doesn’t happen? Anyone else have a similar problem like this?

Yes you want to have your vent flaps open at the bottom of your tent to allow fresh c02 and airflow into your tent. Will also help ease up on some of that negative pressure

yes, as @ConcreteBudz mentioned open two holes at the bottom of the tent one on each side. Set your exhaust fan up to pull out the top this will allow for fresh air to be pulled in the bottom and exhaust hot stale air out the top. Adjust your variable speed on exhaust fan to control negative pressure inside tent. The negative pressure will also control odor .

@kellydans. should the vents stay open even in dark hours. Will light filter in these holes?

@beachglass Yes, leave holes at the bottom open 24/7 and also Run Exhaust Fan 24/7 . Use a piece of 6-inch flex pipe insert in vent holes lay on the floor with a couple of snakes bends will prevent light from going back through the flex. Has always worked for me.

If you ever get to the point where you are worried about light leaking in. You can use a small piece of ducting to help block some light. I have a 4’ piece on one of my tents wrapped around the tent to where it is dark most of the time.

Air flow 24/7 that would be your plants best friend will cut down on changes of mold or white powdery mildew and also control odor. Happy growing !
