I’m currently out of town for work (this will be my last time going out of town, but I left about two days ago now. My wife sent me this! It’s kinda growing out of control. was just seeing if there’s anything I should do when I get back or just let it keep doing it’s thing. This plant is topped about less than a week ago. It’s definitely growing like a bush vs a tree! This is feminized Trainwreck.
If mine I would reduce the light just a bit to get some space between the nodes so I could train it a bit easier. Some growers like them compact though.
Otherwise it looks great.
When you say reduce light, do you mean move light closer to plant or dim the light down a notch?
Or would using a trellis help with this as well. Maybe both? Lol
If it was mine i would defoliate it and see what it looks like after that and then make a decision on whether or not i would do lst training and fimming thats just me
I’ll watch some videos on defoliating. I’m assuming I can cut the dark fan leaves on the bottom. And since I already topped it, I think LST might do the trick?
I’m not really sure what to defoliate. Other than the branches with nodes I know to not cut those.
On another note, my plant is 3 weeks and 5 days (since I planted it in the soil). Read it’s good to start at week 4-8 to defoliate. Ill wait for that 4 week mark to start defoliating.
Frankly, that is the purpose of topping. Give it time for the new two top mains to grow out a couple nodes. Once they do they can be bent down an stapled low. The branches below where it was topped will also grow faster to where they will catchup to the top.
When you topped, how many leaf sets (nodes) did to keep? If I am recalling correctly it is in a 2x2x4 so keeping it small and compact is critical
I had cut above the 4th node due specifically to the size of my tent. And you’re right, it’s a 2x2x4 space. The two knew tops had already been coming along really well even still soon after I cut it. I was gonna top again if it was a necessary thing to do.
When the tops have grown enough and you LST them, the bottom large fan leaves can be removed. The new growth can replace what is lost by cutting them.
I also keep finding these small marks and spots in the plant and not sure what it is. Maybe time to start adding nutrients?
Here’s a pic from afar of the plant currently. And the two tops have been growing very well
I’m not seeing a nutrient deficiency. It looks to have plenty of N at least. If the bottom leaves were pale or light colored then that is when you start thinking about nutrients. Also the runoff PPM.
We all want the leaves to be perfect and unblemished. When that happens it will be my first. Don’t fret too much over them especially the lower ones. At some point they will be removed anyway.
In the last pic I just moved the new branches around to get sunlight and they all seem to be growing more in sync since I did that 4 days ago. Seems to be working. I started slightly tucking the leaves down so I guess in some degree I kinda have been LST. Just not using the plant tie downs and mainly just moving branches around.
That’s EXACTLY how I begin LST as well. I’ve got a little empty pot with a TON of curved wires stored in it that get reused over and over.
I remember you mentioned to not defoliate until the two new branches where I topped were established? They’ve grown about 1.5-2inches since I was gone and away for 3-4 days. I was thinking of going ahead and defoliating but removing the big fan leaves located at the bottom.
