Preflower defoliating?

Been too busy to run a diary this grow and scaled it back to just 2 plants. 1 death bubba and 1 OG Mighty Mite. Both photo period and outdoors in pots.

Came back from a short vacay hoping to do a little late veg defoliating but noticed these little guys. Is is too late to trim some of the lower and inside foliage

out?

You can but I wouldn’t remove any that aren’t blocking light or airflow. Leaves are solar panels that power growth.:+1::oncoming_fist:

Appreciate it. Kind of let them get pretty dense foliage wise.

You can definitely defoliate. She’s not flowering, just showing that she’s ready to when the hours are right.

Thanks. When do you recommend adding in glowering nutes?

I’d stick with your grow nutes until the stretch is over but I’d add in some bloom booster nutes now to hopefully get more bud sites. Also look up shwazzing. It’s removing a bunch of leaves before flower. It was in a $1k book called 3 a light. I do it and get great yields from doing it

I’ve read Schwazzing might be too aggressive for outdoor plants and since I only potted 2 this year I was thinking going a less aggressive route.

Removed lower shoots and a few fan leaves from the middle. Will wait for the end of stretch before thinning it out again.

Your plants look like they’re the perfect time to do it. Cutting the majority of the fan leaves off open up so your plants receive more light in the middle. Do a little side by side comparison of the two. Play it safe

Do not cut the majority of your fan leaves off… please.

We’re were having a discussion on @Budbrother 's journal about this today.

Check this out if you have 10 minutes. Really worth it

Most definitely. Outdoor plants lose so many leaves to environment and pest. They need every one or they’ll recycle them anyway. Plus the sun hits from all angles through the day so hardly anything gets blocked. Keep you leafs.

Might do a bit more defoliating based on the “is it earning” theory tomorrow but sounds like I’m on the right track.

What do you think, switch to straight flowering nutes or keep mixing with veg for a bit more of the stretch?
Thought this was the drath bubba but’s flowering so quick it might be the moghty might.

Keep mixing that’s barely just begun.

Another week or longer? Mighty mite has 7-8 week flowering period.

The Death Bubba plant looks way behind. Hoping for a long dry fall this year

Keep mixing till through the transition and into actual flowering through wk3 flowering. Then start to go over to your bloom nutes
