Hello everyone,
I am into week 5 of my autos and i have seen some slight tip burn. I have heard that i am under feeding, overfeeding, need a flush and that i am just fine. Im confused lol. I just watered today with ph’d water and my ppm runoff was at around 1100. Is that alarming or high being that i only fed water with no nutes. I am unsure how ppm measurement are applied to troubleshooting. Thanks
1100 PPM will be fine, Continue checking your PPM run off once you drop under about 900 PPM I would start feeding a little. Most Organic cannabis friendly soils will carry plants 5 or 6 weeks without feeding. You can also check the feed schedule with the brand nutes you’re using but always start with less dosage. Good luck
Like @kellydans said. “HAPPY GROWING”
Sounds like some great advice to me. I will certaily try that and i will update the progression. Thank you !
Thank you ! Its a lil stressing for a beginner with low knowledge on the matter but im trying my best to stay happy during this grow lol. I surely do appreciate having a great community as this one, filled with knowledgeable individuals willing to throw a tip or two out there to a newbie like myself. Ty and thx all.
Your Welcome. Every grow is a new learning experience for new growers or experienced. I had a problem today with my seedlings and hit up a couple of more experienced growers for help. Everyone on here wants to help out each other with there grows.
I left out that i have been feeding FF trio (only big bloom and grow big) nutes at 1/4 strength, along with silica and calmag since the second week. I added them every other watering. When i started to see tip burns, thats when I gave her plain ph water and tested the runoff which gave me the 1100ppm.
Don’t forget to follow FFs flushing recommendation every 30 days
Sounds good, What brand soil ? My experience with autos take less nutes. @OGIncognito Grows a lot of Autos And can advise with dosage.
Appreciate that Kellydans, it’s been a while since I used the trio and only a grow and 1/2. Too many issues, messy and the need to flush didn’t set well with me after thinking what’s in those nutrients . Anyway, I didn’t say this to frighten you a lot of great cultivators here use it, I switched to Jacks and haven’t looked back. @kellydans is right with watching those PPMs and when to start nutrients. I’ve run my autos on 900-1000, 750-900 but I haven’t found a true sweet spot. I grow different strains at the same time and have noticed that some like it hot and some don’t, same with secondary nutrients like calcium and magnesium. I’ve had calmag hogs and some a normal dose was ok. I’m thinking less is more for the FF trio and always feed/water to run off at least 20%. Hope that helps
I have never used the Fox farm nutes Don’t liked the idea of the all the flushes. Lot of growers use it with success.
Runoff PPM of 1100 in fox farm soil is literally nothing. Five weeks in I am assuming it is happy frog. I would expect higher numbers from ocean forest.
How severe is the tip burn? Sure it is nutrient related and not from the light?
Im at day 31. I bought the bush doc hammer flush and i just received it. I have been watching videos to see how to use it but there are very few. I also was concerned if i needed it or not, after getting that ppm of 1100 which i guessed would not need a flushing. I was told on another thread to flush because i had a runoff ppm of like 2300 or so after a feeding, so i ordered it.
I used ocean Forest
Yes that certainty helps. Thank you for the pro tips !
Yes i also thought maybe that was not high, due to reading other threads where a guy was growing the same auto pack as i am and his numbers were around 25 to 2600. I have no idea personally lol. I am using ocean forest. The burnt tips are not too severe, just alarming to a paranoid newbie. Great question because i am not sure if it is definately a nutrient issue because I have the lights on 24hrs. Also the tallest one is very close to the light. The light is all the way at the top of the tent but its probably about 18 to 20 inches from the plant top.
Do you have any recommendations on proper flushing methods when using Hammer Flush ?
How is your PH, I was noticing the pics later in the thread and the leaf discoloration?
