PPM issues with week 5 autos

I accidentally erased this message after i sent it. Resend…Last time I measured i got a 6.4 from a runoff sample. That was a few days ago. I usually feed at 6.2 or 6.3

I was advised before that the discoloration may be a magnesium deficiency. I bumped up the calmag to the recommended dose on the bottle and got no change yet. I havent given them another dose since then, a few days ago. Before that i have been giving them 1ml every watering since week 2

Use the nutes at a reduced level then what is suggested and make sure to get a good bit of run off every time once nutes are statered and you probably will not ever have to flush.
Keep log of ppms in and out,. And
Only flush if ppm is high (“over 2000 is typically high for synthetic nutrients but is nothing for organic, which FF OF is an organic soil”) AND* plant is showing signs of lock out. If ppm is 5000 and plant looks healthy and growing, then leave it be…

All that is needed to grow killer smoke is the basic trio of any nutrient lines.
All the other add on things is just so they make more money…

All you need to flush is plain ph water.
Flushing is simply washing the root zone free of mineral build up that comes from all synthetic nutrients.

I assume FF suggests a high dosing schedule and would build up salts quickly and would require flushing regularly.
This makes you by more nutes because you’re using more, and they get to sale you a bottle of flushing products that you dont need…

The process can be extremely difficult with goid results, and it can be super easy with good results.

I use absolutely nothing but General hydroponics trio , cal-mag and recharge.
I use only these when in soil (ocean forest) and when in coco (FF 70/30 coco perlite, cultivation nation).
Can check out my journals from my profile and see for yourself…

Hang in there my freind and i hope some of that made some sense .

Less is more, and autopots with coco/perlite and any trio with cal-mag is all you need to set it and forget it

Thank you, that makes plenty sense ! Its funny you gave insight on company sale strategies. I was just watching a video with a grower that had a whole lineup of items and I was thinking about purchasing a few more things. I will take your word for it and stick with the basics lol. I appreciate the tips and encouragement. Btw those autos are sitting pretty… some day, some day

I’ve worked in sales and marketing for 15years

But dont get me wrong, some extra products may and do probably have some benefits…

But as marketing goes, if its ever been used for one thing, make it sound like it’s absolutely needed and more people will buy it…

But its absolutely not needed…

I started to respond last and was under the influence of some White Widow :joy:. I only flush as a last result because its basically is a reset. If your plants are looking healthy, @1HappyPappy gave some good advice with keeping a log of your numbers. If your nutrient numbers coming out with run off are less than what’s going in, then their eating and no worries. It’s when the numbers are are higher coming out than going in is a problem. Those fertilizer salts have built up in the root zone and locked out any uptake. If that happens I would follow the FF sledgehammer recommendation for flushing and follow that with a good feeding and beneficial microbes. I would suggest getting some recharge as a weekly addition. Your ladies are looking great, I rarely check my numbers anymore if they’re looking good keep the same routine. I only say this after I’ve done this a lot last year and got comfortable with my nutrient mixing, PPMs and PH and most importantly the visual health of the plants :love_you_gesture:

Yeah , ocean forest soil plants are good with PH water only frist 5 or 6 weeks. :+1::v:

Ok thanks so on my next nutrient feeding i will know whats going on after getting the ppm in and out results. I would rather not do a flush, so im hoping the numbers do not increase in the runoff, showing a possible salt build up like you explained. Appreciate the grower therapy. All of you take off some of the stress, paranoia and anxiety that comes with being new in the field.

That means i started giving nutrients about 4 weeks too early :open_mouth:. I actually dont even remember where I got the info to start nutes at week 2. It may have been a recommendation for a medium other than what i was using.

I would like to see the run off numbers too, curious about the PH. I would PH water at 6.5 only just to check, no harm no fouls with the FFOF as a back up nutrient source… getting close on the end of that for this medium at 5 weeks :love_you_gesture:

I always watch the plants they will tell you what they need. The good part you were only giving a portion of full dosage. Most of the time less is better. :v:
