Hi all, I have researched how to use a ppm meter to check my plants but I don’t quite understand it. The problem I am having is my starting water ppm is 387 and my runoff is coming out 1860 ppm. From what I read this can indicate nutrient lockout, so I did a fox farms sledgehammer flush followed by a pure water flush and my runoff is still in the 1800’s. What does this mean and what should I do about it.
I really hate to step on your question.
If you are in soil. Which is Soil. All the nutrients are in the Soil. Just give it water and she do her thing.
That’s ok!! You are in soil!
Do you want to wash all the good stuff out for a ppm reading?
Your flush didn’t strip nutrients away, which is probably good in 1800ppm range for soil grow. I agree, water only for now. Depending on how severe your issue is, may be ph related?
Post a pic so we can see the issues
Yes I’m in soil ffhf, there actually aren’t any problems with the plants they are beautiful and thriving. So I should just not add nutes until ppm’s are lower even though the plants are 4-6 weeks into flower?
This is my purple Kush auto at 8 weeks from seed.
Actually 70/30 mix of ffhf and coco
That looks good @Skobi
Thank you. This only our second grow, we have just been following the ff feeding schedule but adjusted strength for autos. So we started nutes at 4 weeks from seed as suggested in the schedule and didn’t question it. If I don’t need to feed yet when should I start again?
Ph is 6.8 on water going in and runoff water and the soil reads 6.8 as well.
I would just keep at the current ph going in.
She is close to finishing.
Imo that’s a little high for what you’re working with, but your plant looks great. I would adjust feeding/ watering between 6.2-6.5 moving forward, this is where i had best results with ff stuff. Just keep an eye on runoff and adjust trending to stay in that range.
Thanks for the help @Woodrow and @dbrn32 I appreciate it. At some point maybe I can stop overthinking everything and just enjoy the growing experience.
Please let me know if you find that place amd I’ll happily join you. For most new growers the less is more mantra applies. But you still want to have your ducks in a row.
Where is this place?
Lol, I don’t know I haven’t found it yet. I have seen so many people say things like “I haven’t checked on my plants in a few days” it made me think I’m just some crazy chick who doesn’t trust her plants to do what they are supposed to do.
Harvesting is the other thing I totally overthink. The purple kush that I posted was exactly 8 weeks from seed and already done. We chopped her right after I took the pic because she was 30% amber on her buds and hadn’t put on any more weight in the last week, but my husband and I discussed it for like 2 hours before making the decision because it was too early and she shouldn’t have been ready yet according to my research. It worked out great though, she put out 81 grams dry weight and the test bud we smoked last night was fantastic even before curing, so I imagine it will only get better.
I saw the 1970’s movie " Have you checked the children lately?" I check regularily.
If it were possible with my budget ( 2026?), cameras would save me the walking 25 feet to GAZE.
Wife not thrilled (cant do THC) the competition for my attentions.
Lung room is tent residence. Exhale into tent, often.
Children need attention, checking and love.
That sounds about like us, sometimes we just sit in front of the tent and stare at the plants for an hour at a time lol, we are very proud of our wabies (weed babies). Only 3 people know we grow and we drag them in there whenever we can to look at how pretty they are. We love growing so much that whenever my state finally legalizes, we are gonna look into a cultivation license and try to make a living out of it.
