Hey grow fam, I have a qustion about how to measure ppm. Do i just water with plain clean water and measure the runoff or are you guys feeding nutrients and measuring runoff from that? Any help is much appreciated!
Correct
It’s good to know your source ppm. Add nutes, check ppm, adjust if needed, then check ppm out.
What kinda numbers are ideal? Or what should i be aiming for? Ive got a lemon haze auto that just starting to flower.
A runoff PPM of ~1,000 should be maintained. Don’t worry if you are off a few hundred PPM here and there.
And thats with nutes added to what im watering with?
What medium are you using
Ive got cali super soil with about 2 inches of fox farm ocean on the top
That soil should feed a plant for approximately 6-8 weeks after the seedling phase. I would recommend a soil slurry test before adding synthetic or organic nutrients. Make sure to factor in a 2 week period or so for the organic nutrients to become available once there tilled in or top dressed. Most organic growers also use a tea that’s instantly available. I run synthetic fertilizer it’s best to study up on PH and PPMs (input and run off) and if the medium is coco or soil for the ideal numbers for each type
So i got my tds meter and watered with just clean rain water, runoff was 2400. So i gave it a really good flush. Ill check again in a couple of days once the soil drys
