Build a box to go over dehumidifier exhaust vent then vent that with dryer ducting to wherever you want it to go.
Ok i get it now. And you are probably spot on with your assessment…
I don’t have any ideas atm (to early for me)
But a concern i have is if the dehumidifier is vented out of the grow space, will is still drop the humidity or would it just pump dry air out that would be replaced with the same moist air
This is a conundrum for sure my freind
I’m not the sharpest crayon in the box, but I’m thinking it would pump the dry air out of the space, and with my a/c unit and the intake fan it would be bringing some moist air back into the space. I can control the humidity better then I can the heat. Both a/c and dehumidifier exhaust puts out very hot air.
Do you have an exhaust and an intake fan?
Yes, 8” intake and outtake, AC infinity 10 speed adjustable, have them set to a slight draw on the sides of the tent
The right size humidifier will lower the humidity for the entire room. Set it outside the tent and lower the whole room humidity.
How big of a tent and how fast are those 8 inchers running? (what speed settings)
It’s a 30’x50’ metal building with lots of air holes mostly around the big roll up doors
Intake is set on 3, outtake on 4
Tent is 10x10
The other 4 plants in this tent are doing great, just this one isn’t and the exhaust from the dehumidifier is very close to this plant, this plant was doing great up until two weeks ago. Which is why I’m thinking to vent the dehumidifier exhaust to outside the tent.
I understand, but you want to turn your dehumidifier into another exhaust fan, with the passive effect of drying the air before it gets into your shop, hoping to capture some of the plant moisture along the way? I guess it just sounds a little sketchy as to the outcome.
If everything else is fine but that one plant, can’t you just build a deflector of some sort to direct the dried air away from affecting that plant?
Never thought of a deflector but I think that might work, thank you.
Good Luck!
Thank you, I love this forum
Only problem is his shop is 30x50 which gets into commercial sized dehumidifiers. I looked up some for him and saw low end at around $600-$700. Maybe just tarping off a section around the tent and then dehumidifying that area?..
I think that would help, but I’m thinking next year or this winter building a wood framed well insulated room and dividing it into two rooms, one grow and one drying. I know it will cost a lot more, but heck, I’m retired and have time
Hahhahaha!! That’s awesome!! Yeah you could build a room fairly cheap, obviously depends on what size your looking to do. Then if you really get into growing, think about having a veg room and a flower room. You can even just have a small 5x5 space to keep a couple of mother’s for cloning. All great retirement projects.
I don’t get why we even have a tent if there is that much available room. Build a grow room man, a real one as you got the space to do it. Just do it.
Make a hidden room within a room, disguise it with a hidden door. Your options are many. Many here envy such space.
Its about, time and materials costs these days. It used to be worth it because you’d make all your money back selling grass, but everyone and their grandparents grow it now. That and its legal everywhere, so building a couple thousand dollar grow seems pointless unless you have a market or are at the geek level when it comes to cannabis. How old are you @2GreenThumbs ? Just wondering when you got into the cannabis game. Its crazy where its gone for sure.
Well Mr. Green, let me break it down.
- when I started, I wanted to be sure I was going to enjoy it, and continue with it, this is my 3rd grow, and I’m addicted now.
- we had a houseboat on the local lake, so we had a pontoon boat in the shop that we got back and forth on, we sold both boats, so now I have extra room.
- had to ease the wife into the idea, but now she is totally on board.
And I’m sure there are other smaller reasons I’m not thinking of right now.
