Exactly!
I am starting to realise that myself
I checked with both the photone and the ppfd app. The photone app was giving me reading on the thousands while the ppfd was on the low hundreds ![]()
I trusted the photone before and I stretched my seedling, now i make sure lights are low but not that they burn my hand on the canopy and try following guidelines.
Those apps also would need to be calibrated
Alright, now this is rudimentary but should provide some idea. I’m sorry but I really didn’t want to dig a tent out of storage. Lol. Hope you understand.
Red Cups Signifty 16” from canopy
100% Power
50% Power
Paint Cans are 12” from canopy
50% Power
100% Power
Now there are a lot of things that can manipulate these readings, specially with the open front to this test area.
However, I hope this helps in one way or another.
This was AMAZING to see and definitely gives me a ballpark range of how my lights should be. I will book mark this and use as a guide ![]()
Glad you found it helpful!
I noticed the lights look slightly different than mine are they their older sf1000? Im just curious because ive read they changed the diodes just not sure when.
Yes they are older, 301b but the difference between the 2 are negligible. You might have a slight increase over the numbers I presented but nothing crazy.
Me closing off the area, positioning in the room, angle of the meter while taking the readings effect the outcome. Ballpark bro. The evo diodes are supposed to be an improvement on the 301h but the the 301h are literally the same as 301b. Lol.
Yeah the ballpark was beautiful I had mine at like 24 with only 60% given what you showed me I was neglecting my seedling.
Yes, and there is more beyond that. If we are talking about stretch, stretching in young seedlings can be caused by too much or lack there of. They will stretch to get away, they will stretch to reach. N you know what, it depends on the strain. Dont worry early on, let them find their place. After they get some true leaves you can really start tracking their behavior. I veer on the lower end of the intensity over a plethora of strains. You don’t know til you know.
Yeah I can’t wait till it’s second nature reading what’s wrong with the plant, I feel like I harass people with my questions lol. Someone put it best to me said I was becoming a victim to information. I’m glad there are people like you on here who genuinely want to help
Man, I don’t know everything, never will, and am learning everyday. When someone knows wtf they are talking about they will be more than happy to chime in. I encourage you to ask all the questions you come up with. Because googling vs a cluster of farmers with hands on experience in a similar situation to you is gold. Promise you, there are no stupid questions. You can tag anyone and tag multiple people. What one doesn’t know, another will. I rely on several individuals for many aspects of my grow. I wouldn’t be where I am now in this hobby if it wasn’t for this community. I only share and contribute because of the community, and at the end of the day, they got my back. They keep my spirits up. They keep me pushing for better.
I’ve noticed a few of the regulars who are always there to answer people and aspire to be one of them. I do see the community in this site because I was reading about someone called lacewing I believe who passed and everyone seemed impacted by that. I do have my first grow journal up if ever want to check in and learn me something.
@Lacewing RIP
I didn’t get to know him until late in the game, and was fortunate enough to receive some of his crosses…
when you stick around, you become family… a lot of members come and go with each season, so when someone stays consistent, we get to know each other beyond the plant… and it is definitely heart breaking when we lose someone or they go MIA.
I’d be happy to follow you just tag me by typing @Low
I will also tag you in my and @MadamCalamity s place. We are a couple and share the journal.
RIP @Lacewing now youre flying higher than all of us.
Man I wish I could get my wife into the growing she just wants to reap the rewards lmao. I’ll definitely check it out I enjoy looking at people’s journals.
There is nothing wrong with her not wanting to get involved. @MadamCalamity once requested me to grow a specific strain, and I told her if she wants it, she has to grow it herself. And here we are.
