Any thoughts on why the pistils on one of my plants are turning brown at 21 days into flower? The other plant in the tent is on the same feed/light/etc. schedule and the pistils are completely white.
Other than that, the plant seems healthy.
Strain: GG4 x Zkittlez from SeedSupreme Grow setup: indoor 2x4 tent Light: 2 x 100W Tunable LED grow lights from VivoSun AeroLights - running at 85% power in Flowering Mode. Approx 14 inches from canopy Medium: Soil - 70% FoxFarm Happy Frog, 20% perlite, 10% vermiculite
Stage: 21st day in Flower
Watering: every 2-3 days to 30% runoff
Nutrients: Jacks Nutrients - 321 schedule for cannabis plants, fed every other watering occasion - so feed about every 5-6 days. This keeps runoff EC in the 2.0-2.4 range. I flushed once when runoff EC measured 3.22.
pH: input ph 6.2, runoff pH 6.4
Temps & RH: day temp/RH: 74 degrees Fahrenheit / 63% RH
Night temp/RH: 64 degrees F / 63% RH
What changed recently (last 7 days): I ran a flush about 3 days ago
This is likely your culprit I like to shoot for around 2mS on the high end. Many things can cause early pistil death, but that’s all I see that stands out. Keep an eye on it for the next few days to see if the problem continues to spread or if flushing fixed it.
thanks for the reply, @Gl1tch! I was wondering about that too. This plant (GG4xZkittles) has had a consistently higher EC reading (.5 mS on average) than the other plant in the tent (OGKush).
So if (what did you call it?) early pistil death can be caused by high EC, it would make sense I’m seeing that only in the plant with a higher EC.
I guess I’ll have to put the 2 plants on different feed schedules. Thanks again!
@Reed71 , it’s happening to a greater or lesser extent on 95% of the buds. some are browner than others, and there are a couple buds with no browning. but most buds have at least some pistils with brown tips.
How’s your temperature been and how close is your lights for these are some things that can cause this and are both plants are same strain and ph can cause this @chester need take reading if possible
There’s probably a better term out there, but it gets the point across . It’s a sign of stress or pollination. I see no sign of a hermie to drop pollen(double check wouldn’t hurt to be certain) and environment looks decent for the moment(RH is a little high but not stressful). So high EC seems like the only source of stress from the info provided. The plants look otherwise healthy.
I agree with @Gl1tch about only thing stress or pollination sometimes genetics or autos can do this when stressedwhat kind of lights are you using and what are you running them on
