I have been using spring water with a PH of 6.8 but when I add my teaspoon of Flowertime fertilizer (Which I bought here, Marijuana Grow Kit - White Widow) to the water the PH tanks to 3.5. I did buy a quart of PH UP and added recommended amount (1 ML per gallon) and it rose to 4.5. Should I add more and will adding more hurt the plant?
This is normal.
Keep adding pH Up until you reach the target pH of 6.5 for soil. If in coco your target pH is 5.8. It may take a few ml to get the job done.
Thanks!
I would be cautious sbout 1 teaspoon dropping ph to 3.5. That is a crazy amount. I would think low 5’s be normal…never had any fertilizer that i have used tank that low. Verify your ph meter is correct. Maybe it is but again…never seen a fertilizer drop that much.
Took the words out my mouth! That is a major drop. As above verify meter. Wine has a Ph of 3.5 very acidic
Thanks for the info. I did some controls and the PH meter was spot on.
I’d change water then.
Ya something seems funny to me still. Although i never tried the ilgm nutes, try mixing with tap water or something different to compare. You can just ph it alllll the way back up if need be but certainly would try changing a variable. If your happy just keep it be then. But get in the 6.3 to 6.8 zone.
I don’t know if you have a TDS meter, but with as huge a drop as you got I would want to check and see if you didn’t accidentally overfeed.
The nutes I’m using will drop my water no more than 0,5, and that’s been typical of a few different lines that I have used.
Do not feed your plant with 4.5 water, though I’m sure that’s already been made clear.
This is my first grow and I have learned a shit load about PH (just raising it). This one sprouted on 4/20. I just took off a few of the fan leaves What do you think?
Thanks for the heads up. I am sure you figured out this is my first grow. I consumed everything I could on how to raise your PH, finally I broke down and bout the PH UP, works great! I use a good PH meter but I also ran the PH on litmus and it was the same. It only tanks when I use the Flowering Formula bought from here. I think my first few watering’s were in the low 6’s maybe high 5’s. Do you have any hints on watering? I have a meter for that as well but I like to get a wooden rod and stick it down to see if it comes back wet. I just posted a pick of one of the twins. Any suggestions? Thank you for all your help!
Best way to know when to water your pot is to learn what it weighs when nearly completely dry. Then water it until you get some runoff, lift it, and repeat. You can easily overwater if you don’t allow drying in between.
My first grow I literally weighed my one plant and recorded before/after weights etc, until I knew by muscle memory.
She looks pretty good to me, but it is hard to tell with the purple light. Take a flash pic with your light off, that will show the true color of the plant.
I’ve got some scales, that’s a great idea. My iPhone would not flash for some reason. Here are three picks. LMK what you think.
Looks very healthy to me.
I will send you more pics when its ready! Thanks for everything.
You’re welcome! Holler at me anytime, I’m around a lot.
Depends on the makeup of water used. If it has a really low ppm chances are the base reading of 6.8 isn’t accurate and the mixture of fertilizer is responsible. My solution will measure around 4 when made with ro or distilled water, but 7 when mixed into my tap water.
Back when I was using FF nutes I had to use 8ml to get the pH back up to 6.5. 8ml = 2 teaspoons.
Each time I water I use 8 - 10 ml per gallon (80 - 100 ml in my 10 gallon reservoir) of pH DOWN to get my pH from about 7.8+ down to 6.5. When I used liquid nutrients (FF) I did use pH UP during flowering due to the flower nutrients.
Exactly why i said to try different water.
