Persistently white trichomes White Widow

Hi, I’m a new grower, & am perplexed by my White Widows who have been in flower for 15 weeks, trichomes have turned from clear to white, though still no signs of amber. Have only a few plants. Thought maybe they had turned hermaphrodite on me because I’m seeing new white hair-like structures growing. Perhaps they are new flowers. Don’t know whether I should harvest now or wait. The strong odor they used to emit is much lower. Thanks for any help.

I’m new at this also so my feedback is limited but I’m just finishing up my first grow of WWAs and had a similar experience. Each of my three plants finished at different rates. The first I harvested was a tough call as only a few trichomes were amber but the pistils had turned brown and I was well in to 90 days. Just really looked ready. The other two were slower and my last kept throwing out white pistils until finally it didn’t. The good news is that while the trichomes never really got too amber it smoked up really nice. I think the last 2 were closer to 100 days. No answers for you but hope it helps to hear. Maybe pics would help?

Do you have pics.? How long in 12/12? Auto or photo?

Hi, thank you. So I’m up to 105 days of growing now, & getting tired of babysitting these guys. Learning a lot, as I’ve experience powdery white mildew. Been chasing that down, lucky it’s a mild case. Though none would be preferable.
Taking a pic & posting it is above my skill level right now. Thanks again.

It’s photo, been in 12/12 15 weeks. I’m going to try & post a picture. Thank you.

The new white pistils you see are from what is known as foxtailing, not appealing to look at but still weed! 15 weeks= done I would think, and from looking at her I think she is! Do you have a Jewelers Loupe or some way to see the Trichomes?

I have a few magnifying devices though nothing fancy. 2 lenses came in the A Pot for A Pot kit though a lit magnifying glass I have works better for me. I can see the trichomes & they went from clear to white. I keep looking for amber though don’t see any.

To clarify,

Which of these is correct, or have you gone 12/12 from seed?

Should have used a calculator. It’s been 154 days of growing, & 12/12 for 14 weeks. I’m sorry I made those mistakes.

It’s all good @emacarone. You can tag someone to get their attention like I did you! So 14 weeks, lots of “milky” white Triches. What type of buzz do you want?

@emacarone suggest loading a free app to your iPhone called MagLight. This will take good pictures with flash on and zoom in. Then take those photos and zoom in further on your iPad or laptop. Then you can really see those trichomes. No need for a loupe or other gear. JBB

@Holmes I want to feel well & be able to do things. It’s not to sedate me. I wrote this yesterday though was unable to send. I had message from website telling me I had already used up my allotted posts for the day. All I did was this.

I’ve harvested plants w/o many amber and that’s what I like. A nice speedy high. Love sativas. F it if you dont see any clear chop it. You learn new things every grow. We learn more from our mistakes. Good luck

Then you want to chop soon probably, if you do it too soon it will be more of speedy feeling and won’t last long, and if there is a lot of Amber it will be more sedating or “couch lock”! The more you are on here the more they let you do, so look around and use the search function to find things that may interest you and spread some likes around when you see something you like!

@Holmes Thank you for your advice. I’m battling powdery white mildew, & it’s never-ending. I’m chopping tomorrow. Thanks again.

@Psu8286 Thanks for your response. I’m going to chop tomorrow as my plants have become a tad needy. Still battling the powdery white mildew. Seems there is a steep learning curve & you’re right, I am learning.

I looked for the app and could not find it. Could it be called something else?

If you have buds with WPM, you will want to wash them in a solution of water and 3% H2O2 right after you harvest, trim leaves immediately after harvest and then wash in mixture, Please do not smoke them without doing so! Do a search on Peroxide(H2O2) for washing cannabis and also as a treatment of WPM during your grow!

@emacarone. Here’s a tried and true way of washing your harvest.
