Hello everyone, thanks for letting me leaf some things here … I just recently started my first home grow indoors with Hawaiian Cat Piss and Zombie Og as I’m running 2 optic8+ Gen 2 500 watt in veg and 4 in flower. I had a batch last year that I’m pretty sure got too much light when my FIL moved rooms. With my white FRP walls I’m noticing 40-60% veg 30% bloom and 15% booster at about 30 inches away due to heat and light stress. I think we had too much wind also but all is corrected now. Inwas wondering about light intensity and if anyone has any experience with these lights? They are thriving with adjustments down i made recently the
Follow these figures for lighting. Regardless of your light make and model these are the ppfd requirements for each stage of growth.
Avg hanging height for a light is 18-24 inches depending.
There are apps for measuring ppfd that are free. They arent as acurate as say an apogee light meter but a few hundred bucks for a meter can be hard to come by in todays economy. And these free ones will at least be close. I use photone myself.
Also look into D.L.I for cannabis to better understand light needs.
Much thanks but I have all these charts on PPFD and DLI numbers, my question was about these lights specifically. I’ve already adjusted the hieght and power where they should be with my quantum light meter and DLI intensity maps. I appreciate the help for sure because last year I didnt have the charts and I roasted a whole 18 plants indoors under too much light doing a bad photo switch🤷 and humidity of course so lessons learned there. But again much thanks for reaching out
i see no reason those lights wont be great. You will find heat the issue over too much light once in veg/flower. Cannabis is a full sun plant and can take more than most of us can give them. I personally eyeball the light now. Very dialed in. I eyeball from plant reactions. Those cob lights can perform very well. Most of us have transitioned to boards or strip style but the older tech performs fine for us home grows.
