Old Soul, New Grow Journal

I use Mosquito Bits whenever I see gnats, also some yellow sticky traps can reduce the flying adult population while the bits kill the larvae in the soil, if seeing a lot of larvae running around on the surface, can sprinkle some DE to kill those buggers off.

I would not use peroxide in the soil, sure will kill the gnat larvae but will kill every beneficial microbe in the soil along with it. Not worth it, gnats are easy to get rid of without resorting to drastic measures.

Gave Abbey a haircut last night, trimmed 7 leafs as big as my hand, she really likes it.

All four of my girls are giving me a cause for concern. I need to take a measurement to see whats going on. Two mistakes I know I made was overwatered, but I let them dry, A few leaves had a brown tip but not all and I turned the AC down when we went through a heat wave, day was cool but night to cold. Just guessing right now but I’m thinking Manganese or Magnesium how can I tell? I don’t think its Nitrogen, I will know more when I can measure some runoff. Bea still looks good, a little stretchy for my taste, but I have two doing the same grow Bea and Carol.

Deb has big fat foliage like Abbey. I like it.

Carol is still hanging in there, still waiting for her to sport some bottom branch.

@Hellraiser any idea if my dicoloration might be from lack of manganese or magnesium and how do you check? Hate to bother you. Mike

Looking hungry for something which usually means the nutes are not there in the soil or are locked out due to ph. Feeding anything or is that one of the soils with fertilizer in it? Do you use CalMag?Do you ph test and adjust your water? What kind of water?

@Hellraiser Ph 5.93, cheap staygreen garden soil. but I’d rather do that and amend, I’m sure its a low NPK just time release. use a touch of miracle grow and swap with Jacks321. I’ve used MG and had success only that was a outside grow. I haven’t added any salt but it looks like a mag. def. I just don’t know how to check. I do have a EC meter. Top soil feels dry but runoff is heavy, I hate to disturb the roots by adding perlite. Growth seems to have slowed down but it always surprises me, I trimmed lower water leaves because they were blocking so much light and my lower branches just took off. I’m trying to catch this thing early I can tell there is something not right. One side of me says let er rip tater chip and the other side says take her to the weed hospital. New growth looks good, normal on Abbey small on Bea and Carol. Deb looks like Abbey at that age. I know its something stupid simple but I’m having a brain fart. Can’t rule out root rot. Letting girls dry out for a couple of days until they tell me they need a drink.

Best way to check if the soil still has a good amount of nutes is to check the runoff ppm and see what it says and if lower than 1000ppm then you want to start giving nutes. They are looking a bit light green to me, so they probably need a feeding.

@Hellraiser Thanks I’ll hunt down my meter.

@Hellraiser Thank you sir, found my meter and ppm was >950 fed a good dose of N and all is good. Color coming back and new growth going nuts. I’ve been reading your clone thread and its got me excited. I have a 6 bucket RDWC with a 50gl res. I think Im going to try some clones from Abbey, See if the weed gods will smile on me. Cat

Thanks @Hellraiser you inspired me to my first clone. rockwool, small drill bit to go all the way through, clay pellets, Mrs. Cat yogurt cup with a 1" hole.

Gator aid bottle sprayed black because roots don’t like light

Last thing is 2nd Gator aid bottle painted black so I can give her darkness for 6 hrs.

Abbey is over 2’, growing like weed.Bea is coming along, I think I screwed up and overwatered.
I have concerns with Carol, I can’t get her to branch

Deb is looking good, only 12" but real bushy, I topped her and she loved it.

Abbey-27,5" and I think shes getting ready to bud, would like to get another week or two before taking her to 12/12,
Bea - 26" and starting to fill out, still what I would say working to get there.
Carol - starting to get branches, just leaves no stems yet.
Deb - 13" and looking strong, bushy, I like it. I topped her and she liked it, normally I like to just letem rip tater chip but I hop to let her go big.

Sorry its not Redbud
Its Budlight
This is Deb compair to previous pic. WoW
This is Carol I almost gave up on her. Never say die never leave anyone behind
This is Bea

Blue light is suppose to promote root growth, red Buds We will see on the new clones.

Gonna make the jump to Hydro. This is my first clone off of Abbey. Thanks for the motivation @Hellraiser . Mike

Don’t know who’s in shock more me or Abbey. I just broke off 11/2" of the top moving her. She was 38" tall. I’ll try to clone her but… Mike

@Mark0427 I’ll try to get some new pics up today to show what I was talking about with the heat and RH. If anyone has any ideas let me know. PH 6.7, EC 1178, Using Jacks. temp-75(trying to keep stable but with the cold nights its getting hard.) RH 70%. Ran into a aphid infestation but they stayed away from my girls, treating with Neem Oil. My clones seem to be doing OK except for one which has a taco leaf. Thought it might be lights but my LEDs dont give off heat, and its far enough from my little clones I kinda ruled it out. Mike

This is Abbey I’m thinking heat stress.
This is Deb, some curl but not as much as Abbey This is Deb, starting to bud
This is Carol, big fat leaves and looks real healthy, I thought I was going to loose her.

These are some of my clones and my first attempt at Hydroponics. If anyone has a suggestion on what I can or can’t do please help. My specs are in the previous post.
