@mulch New thread. I’m tossed between going hydroponic, use coco, or soil based Medium. Keep in mind indoor, closet or spare room 6 plants. Must be CHEAP. Using an aero garden to get some started & coco pellet starters for other three. Thinking ahead to transplant time. What can I get by with? I may try to scrog, cause I’ve already got the wire. GO
ok, you have a lot of variables
let’s start here: which medium do you seem to be leaning towards?
I bought a big bag of Mircle Grow moisture control because the folks @ Lowesdidnt have any coco except a small expensive bag of chips & 2 bags of perlite. I got two free growers pots about 6x6. Does that help? I like the idea of the fabric or air pots but Lowes doesn’t have those either.
can you buy from amazon? do you still have a budget to buy this stuff with?
dont use miracle grow anything. return them for your money back asap and if going soil, others with soil experience should be coming along to help
I am only on my 4th grow but have used 3 different types including miracle gro. What type of budget do you have for soil. I am probably one of the most budget concious people on here. I use Happy Frog now but only cause most people pay $20 a 2 cubic foot bag while I pay $9.99 a 2 cf bag
That bag was $14 for the 50 gallon? Next to nothing, I like your prices. Free is also good. Retired Granna on fixed income.
You could have done cheaper on the soil. $4 for 1 cubic foot at walmart.
Ok; sounds like a great excuse to get out of this non-AC house tomorrow! Anything else I need to go ahead & buy while I’m there? My AC died yesterday & got to 90 in the house herebin the southeast US!
I’ll keep my 57° and rain here in AK…
How/ where can I get it at that price?
I live in Cali and my house hits 90 every day, AC running 24/7. If you cant get good nutes you can use miracle gro but get the blue crystals. But if you can get nutes even just a basic grow and bloom. I started with a 8oz bottle of dyna gro grow and bloom for $8 each and to this day on my 4th grow now I have not gone through a bottle and they are super easy to use. I still use dyna gro nutes but now I have a full set. Does your AC turn on or has the fan stopped spinning? Mine sounded like it was turning on but only warm air and my cousin fixes AC units said turn it on and try to kick start the fan with a stick but be careful. If the motor turns and stays turning the capacitor is bad. Sure enough $10 later and I was in cool air again.
Walmart. Lowes is high priced on soil.
Technician changed fan switch, it’s running now but not cold because my coils had a hole & has leaked most of the freon out. Praying part comes tomorrow. How did I ever live w/o AC as a kid I’ll never know!
Ok, what else can I get there? I noticed I can get ph up/down in pool section. Do I need to keep the perlite?
What are blue crystals? The bag is blue says moisture control to prevent over watering.
Perlite I did mix about 2 parts soil to 1 part perlite just so my soil would not hold too much water in the soil causing rot or mold. I don’t see any nutes at walmart other then miracle gro in store.
I honestly cant remember what the box looked like my neighbor was growing and he gave me some all I know is they are blue crystals. If you can get better nutes I would.
So, your saying I need these “nutes” even with miracle gro soil? Where can I buy this?
No those nutes are what I use. Im saying if you can afford something other then miracle blue crystals get something like what I have that are beneficial to what were growing. If your a beginner like me these nutes were so easy to use. If you youtube type in dynagro and they have a little info on their nutes there. These nutes have micros in them so you can basically just use the grow in veg stage and bloom in flower and end up with nice plants and a decent harvest. I got a oz off each of my 3 plants and I have heat issues so it was a good turn out way more then I expected. You don’t have to remember when you gave them nutes last as withthese you feed them with every watering.
If your going to use the miracle gro soil just stick with that no nutes needed for a few months.
