Nutrients during flower stage, indoor grow

Do nutrient requirements increase during flower and how to avoid nute burn. Talk to me.

As a general rule, when flowering starts, nitrogen should be reduced while potassium and phosphorous are increased.
As far as avoiding nute burn, checking runoff PPM and close observation of the foliage is best way to monitor. Any changes in the mix ratio should be done in small amounts while watching the reaction. Also generally speaking, recommended PPM is between 900 and 1500.

Watch the leaves. When the tips start turning brown, you’ve hit the point that’s just about right, and should ease back a little. Of course measuring ppm is handy too, but I didn’t have a ppm gauge for years, and with organic, the runoff ppm doesn’t help you.

Do you have a specific nutrient that you favor?

What about tiger striping on a couple of plants. All 10 are SSH. Three have showed yellowing and all others are deep, lush green. All are producing bud. I want them to fill out better than previous grows. I believe lighting to be adequate. Last calmag soak pH of runoff was 6.6. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure what to tell you there. Sorry.

Lovely painted nails!

At this time I am using up whatever I have left over. I am about to start a new grow with all fresh soil and new nutrients. Just haven’t decided which nutes yet.

Greenleaf nutrients has a new 2 part system. I didn’t mind the MegaCrop one part but it turned into a single rock of minerals before the second grow. Anyway the new ones are obviously meant to compete with Jacks. In Fact the Part B is simply Calcium Nitrate like Jacks 321 system. I may get the small bag of Part A and try it next grow. Just for something new.

I have been using Mills Nutrients, and am happy with the results. It is very easy to use. Mills has a small starter kit, and there are six different products in the kit, but you only use four at a time. Pouring the liquid nutrients into a measuring cup is as easy as weighting dry nutrients, and the liquid nutrients will not get hard on you. It’s shelf life is like about 5 years. The three level nutrient schedule will work with any type grow from soil to full hydro, and is easy to follow.

I believe the best additive one can do is a quality microbial product. I have used FishSh-t, Tribus Original, Advanced Nutrients Voodoo Juice & Piranha and all work wonders. I find microbes increase the efficacy of the nutrients so I don’t need to “Jack” up the nutrients as much. Even through mid-flower I keep ppms around 1000. Although PPM doesn’t change all that much during flower, what I feed them does.
