Nutes for Deep Water Culture

Hello everyone.
I havent been growing for almost 2 years now and i am looking forward to start growing again, i used to grow in coco but i want to try something new.
So i decidet to try hydroponics, after doing some research i chose to go with a DWC system which i will try to build myself.
I have not decider yet which nutrient Brand/Line to use…
So my question is what would your recommendation be ?
Thank you

I grow the basic DWC system and I use the General Hydroponics Trio line with Armor SI, CalMag , Liquid Kool Bloom and Hydroguard…

@Retiredoldguy
Thank you, do you feed by the GH chart or did you create your own chart, GH would be great for me because its easy to get at my location.
Do you know any alternatives for hydroguard because i have not found anyone who sells this in my area ?

this is my current feeding schedule…Southern AG is another product instead of hydroguard…

@Retiredoldguy just another quick question, what size net pots do you use and do you think the size of that makes any difference ?

I use 3 inch net pots with a 2 inch rockwool cube inside it…the only reason you might need a bigger net pot is if you do not have a support system/trellis if your plant gets top heavy…the size of the net pot will not make a difference in your grow IMHO

Welcome to the community. I presently use Green Planet Duel Fuel 1&2, Rezin, Vitathrve, in flowering Iiquid weight and massive bloom. I’m growing Super Skunk autos week 11 of grow.
Good luck

Great thank you, i am planning on using a trellis net to get the most out of my space.
Do you germinate you seeds in the rockwool cubes ?

Thank you, looks great

i put my seeds to soak in distilled water…once I see a small tail out of the seed I put into the rockwool/netpot and place in my empty tote/reservoir in the tent with a clear plastic cup over it and DLI set at 4 …once she breaks ground I remove the cup and place my neoprene sleeve over it and this helps keep moisture to it…

I germinate in tap water then when I have 1/4 root I put it root down in rock wool, pinch it slightly closed and watch them grow. Once they get a couple inches I cover them with a dome cup. Once they start touching the sides of the cup or at least close I move them to 5gl clay pebble filled hydro pots. Good luck my friend.

Thank you guys,
For feeding do i have to change out the whole 30l reservoir everytime i feed or can i just top it of with a new water nutrient mix and then change out the whole thing like every few weeks ?
And if so do i just put the nutes in for the few liters that i refill or do i have to calculate for the whole 30l reservoir ?
Thank you guys your answers help a lot :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t know the answer to that question. My setup has a 55 gal water drum that pumps to a reservoir then gravity to 12 five gallon pots. I change my water/nutes ever 7 days. I’ve heard people topping off but I don’t think the top off should include nutes. Seems like the ratio would be off but I don’t know. Sorry I know this doesn’t resolve your issue. Good luck with your grow.

morning clandestino…most growers that have large external reservoirs do not change out the nutrients except for when they switch to flower 12/12, otherwise they just add more nutrient mix to the reservoir as the plant consumes…I am the exact opposite of that …my plants do not share a reservoir, each of them grows in their own reservoir/tote…if you look at my feeding chart I sent you you can see the intervals that I completely exchange the reservoir/tote and replace with fresh made nutrients…I understand the reason large external reservoir growers don’t want to exchange more often since it is such a large volume of water and most use RO water…I use distilled or water from my ZERO filter only…to me when you just add more nutrients to a large reservoir you don’t really know what the plant has left in your nutrient mix and so when you add you could make your nutrient mix higher in N or P or K you just don’t know…most big external reservoir growers use Jacks 3-2-1 and they have some formula they use when they are replenishing the nutrients between change outs…
