Help with general hydro nutrient schedule for DWC

Hi everyone. Ive been growing in soil for a while and i decided to give DWC a go. Im finding a lot of different info on how much of what nutrients to add and when. Also what ppm should my water be for different grow periods? I am using four 5 gal DWC buckets. I am using general hydroponics flora trio as well as diamond nectar, flora nectar and armor si. I plan to buy some more of the nutrients for the flowering period when that comes. Im going to put my seedlings in the water tomorrow and would like to be sure to give my babies what they need. Thanks for the help🙏

I aim for 800-1200 ish - lower for vegging and higher for transition and flower.

Important detail — your ppms are nutrient only readings. AKA if you have 150 Ppm water to start, then you add 800ppms of nutrients, you still only have 800 PPMs.

It would read like 950 on the meter, but you subtract put your starting point to get the real total.

Also measure PPMs before adding any supplements without nutritional value, such as microbes or Recharge or acids or molasses. I find those alter my readings (not dramatically, but I do notice).

I would be the first to direct you to Jacks 3-2-1 instead of GH, but use what you have til its gone. @nodurxshn uses GH or did in the past with great success. Ive never used it personally. I started with Fox Farms liquid nutes and decided rather quickly theyre just hot garbage with a pretty label.

Put your water level 1 inch below the bottom of the net pot. Run twice as many air stones as you think you need. Lower the water level to 3” below the bottom of the pot once you can see roots.

Happy growing - feel free to tag me into your grow, or come read mine - Seeds in Rockwool. :v:

I use the GH line of nutrients and have no complaints…I can share my feeding schedule with you if you like just let me know… @Graysin @peachfuzz gave you some good guidance above

Thats what i use as well… i monitor each bucket with its own tri-meter. Single bucket is a little more labor intensive but you do have control over each plant separately, in case of any issues. I have used GH for the past 4 years and have had successful grows, even with overfeeding them. This grow i found the Lucas formula for breaking down the nutes for the gro/micro/bloom series. I will just say l have definitely learned more food does not mean bigger buds, if tou are over feeding them. Are you using rockwool cubes and clay pebbles in the basket?:sunglasses::v:

@Retiredoldguy I would love to take a look at your nutrient schedule . I am going to put them into the water today and still haven’t figured out exactly what ratios to put in. One thing that confused on is that it seems like some youtube growers use the posted GH nute schedules and use the ml per gal measurement on the chart and change it to the same amounts of mls per 5 gal bucket? So if the chart says 1 ml per gal should i just put 1 ml in the whole bucket? @peachfuzz @Graysin @NUG61

Can we see a pic of you set up. If you are just going to the buckets you can be just water and hydroguard this week…dont sweat it. Also a pic of your nute line up.:sunglasses::v:following the bottle schedule is overfeeding… in my opinion.

Brother just keep in mind that we all do some things a little different. We all have successful grows which proves more than one way to skin a cat. So take the information and decide how you will proceed. We all want you to have a successful grow and help anyway we can… just don’t get overwhelmed when we’re all coming at you…lol :sunglasses::v::heart:

Apsalutely. I have armor si coming in the mail today but otherwise its all in that pic. 4 single buckets with 2 airstones each. Two 4 tube air pumps. Any thoughts on adding a drip system?

Perfect… So here is where you may find the differences. I have always used the gro/micro/bloom at bottle measurements and had successful grows but always issues. The main one being N toxicity… I do not use the gro nute any longer , the micro has enough to support the plant. If you goggle the Lucas formula for hacking the GH nutes it has a calculator to help mix you food. You will definitely need some hydroguard to help protect the roots from rot.
