Normal bud progression or problem?

Yea, that’s where I’m at for now too

My growmie just grew out a GG that had a look very much like that, but the flowers were even sparser, they never grew into buds at all. He figured he’d let it finish for the heck of it and got an oz off a nearly 4 foot plant. He did say it was the strongest weed he’s every grown. Figures, right?

I think cannabis genetics will test the patience of the hardiest of growers from time to time.

I know what ya mean. All that energy had to go somewhere I guess. I think I’d be happy with exceptional quality smoke at the cost of quantity, hell id be happy with a mediocre 1/4 :rofl: It would be very disappointing to get zero out of a plant you put so much into though.

That’s why he went through the whole harvest/trim (that was a mess, I’m sure)/cure cycle.

I’d have frozen the thing and turned in into hash, I think.

I hear ya, probably be good either way. I haven’t did the full plant trim, dry Cure thing yet. I did a couple yesterday, just for scientific purposes of course :nerd_face:

Oh of course. I’m always testing things for science here too.

Have you ever thought about growing photo periods? They are much more forgiving and you can take your time while they’re in vegatation. If you make a mistake it has time to recover.

Yea, I plan on trying photos. I choose autos for first run cause having to not worry about light timing was one less thing in the mix plus the 2 strains I picked are supposed to by shorter but that didn’t pan out. 2of 3 are 5’ and bushy the other is 4’7" with typical shape. I tried LST on the WC, it was going good til I tried to spiral her around perimeter of bag and boke her neck, that was a oh crap moment but I managed to tape her bobble head back on then a few days later broke her arm then leg, after that I opted for leaning instead of bending. I have a 4’10" super lemon haze that I just tried super cropping on that worked out good, she took it and didn’t miss a beat. I got a lot of auto seeds and have already spent more than I expected so the photos will happen, just not yet. I like the idea of scrog while starting the grow on 12/12, seems you can finish one near as fast as an auto. One of my SLH didn’t start flowering until week 7 so near as fast is subjective to genetics as well :grin:

I just bought a 10+10 pack of seeds off ILGM of NYC Dieseland a 5 pack of Maui Wowie. Both are Photo periods. I don’t mind the wait. Im growing bag seeds right now

Maui Wowie is on my list to try along with a couple other landrace strains, had some in the '80s I would imagine its a bit stronger now

I just had some last year. It was shipped to a freind of mine from California and i bought an ounce. Its stronger it seemed. It still has that great pungent flavor that Mowie Wowie flavor…

Welcome i’ve seen a couple of odd looking autos in the last year. @VirginiaGrowBoy had a plant Of the same nature several months back. Good luck

Its structure looks like where my wedding cake auto is headed. It makes buds that were slender to begin with then decided to grow longer instead of wide. She is a lil over 5’ tall which I wasn’t expecting. Her cotyledon leaves were bright yellow the morning she sprouted then by that night then were normal. She sprouted in 36 hours, had pistils on day 18, flowered on day 25 and now she decides to redo here buds 1.5 weeks before I was hoping to chop. I’m gonna let her do her thing until I start seeing some amber trichs. then chain saw that 2" thick trunk :grinning:

I had a feeling you probably still had a picture. Thanks for sharing :+1:

How it turned out;
She would grow buds fatter then stretch, repeat, but the trichs were getting to much amber for my taste. Testers were already making me sleepy/slothy after a few hours when the energetic part subsided.
I did a partial harvest consisting of 2 of 8 colas and most of the side branches that grew up the middle on day 70 above ground as i was satisfied with the testers taken the week before, trichomes were mostly cloudy with some clear.
chopped the other 6 colas and a couple sides branches on day 77 (07/22/23). The buds are long and slender, little to no leaf, mostly bract’s. One week cure on the first part tastes a lot like a cake or pastry with some tasting spicy. Hits nice although some is more harsh than others. The dried but uncured I chopped on 7/22 is a lot stronger gave me the WWID’s (what was i doing?)…definitely night time or movie bingeing. Despite the funkiness of the Ruderalis bud structure I’m very pleased with the results. Still got the Lemon Haze sisters finishing up but already planning my next grow a little bit smarter thanks to the many master growers that contribute so much to this forum.

Dried but not cured weight…
Middle and 2 of 8 colas = 90 g
6 of 8 colas and side branches 88 g
total = 178 g
