Back in the day there was only one way to do it right and I took a break from the art and hobby for 20 years. While learning about rudderalis over the last year I decided to do my best to maximize my efforts and created this dual 185 gph pump NFT hydroponic hybrid system based on a lot of reading and what some friends are doing.
I’m using GH micro, armour Si, veg, bloom and floralicious in my lineup.
I put together two HLG 260’s for the project and installed a Brinno camera for Timelapse at one shot every 10 minutes.
I have two blackberry and two stardawg autos by fastbuds in the mix. Had one stardawg (I think) not come up so I popped another one
Awsome!! Love new grows I’m not in hydro setup but intrested in watching your grow good luck!
One thing I did recently learn to share knowledge is that I do 6,10 minute feedings per day which is more than some and less than others. I currently have 5 gallons in the reservoir and over the past 3 days I’ve watched the ph climb as the nutrients get taken. The ppm went from 450 to 350 and this is one of the many reasons why you change your res water weekly.
Nice set up. I’m watching.
Very interesting.
Is that expanded clay hydroton under the green trays?
Will the roots be sitting in water also like DWC or is the water reservoir separate from where the roots would be at, I ask because I’m trying to figure out where the “hybrid” is at?
It’s 6” rock wool cubes that sit on a shortened kitchen organizing rack 1” off the bottom. NFT uses spreader matt and runs all the time. I have 6 feedings per day on a timer. Nft usually has a single mid way feeding Tube and I’m top feeding.
Gonna keep an eye on this one. Good luck
Day 8 and they split leaves. I’m pushing them to the edge but once those roots hit it’s game on. Lights down, nutes up!
I upped the nutes today just to push it to 1068 and obviously the roots have taken and the stalk and leaves have doubled in 24 hours.
The top photo is today and the bottom is yesterday.
An update on the ladies. They have grown so well I topped one and LST bent two over and the other later smaller one for now is going to grow until she catches up and tells me what she wants. I also cut back on the feedings to 4 times per day to see if I could get even more roots to move. I’d love to get input on if I should feed more or less.
Not so much the feeding schedules…
It’s just a matter of making sure they have all the minerals that they need when they need them…
it has more to do with the watering schedules…
Just need to get your watering schedules dialed in…
Lookin good tho…
You run the risk of damping off your plants with that set up…
Ebb n flow is what you should be looking into as they get older…
It seems like no matter what and how often I feed them they just keep going for it! I did cut back to 3 times per day just to be safe however I hit a button on the timer and fed them for 8 hours straight before I got gone from work and I just kept recycling the water with no ill effect other than using about two gallons out of the res. They no kidding grew 1/2” in that period!! Look at the photo above where I posted the image then those. image|374x500
Looking great
I just worry about water splashing on the trunk… as long as you can keep your trunk dry , you should be good to go…
They are looking very happy…
Nice job my friend…
The water doesn’t run too fast in the system. Little more than a trickle.
EXPLOSION! I have never had any plant under my care go off the way these have. The blackberry is not as big but for a blackberry the way I understand it she is doing great. But these stardawgs have literally almost shadowed her. Presently they are 26” tall and mid pre flower. Initially I was a little concerned about node spacing but you can’t grow monster flower without monster plants right?!
2 of the 3 stardawg are in full bloom. A handful of the future colas measure 12” with their tight node spacing on is 28” and the other 34” tall. Definitely different pheno’s. The blackberry was an absolute BUSH. I had to thin and take away a dozen little suckers to try and get her to stretch which she did but it’s just not a big yielder from anything that I’ve seen or read and I believe this system would’ve gotten it if it could be done by the way the others are going. She’ll make a hell of a lot more than my first attempt. The other stardawg is in pre flower because I couldn’t get the other blackberries to pop and so it’s about 12 days behind. I went ahead and added a 3rd tote because I had to see what dark devil by sweet seeds can do and I had the room and space to do so. I’m using about 4 gallons of nutes per day on 5 feedings and a 19 hour schedule.
