Just a thought if u haven’t ordered your light yet u can check eBay. They seem to go a little cheaper there.
As long as you occasionally open your bedroom window to vent out the warm air, you’ll be fine. I vent into my grow room, which raises the temp by 5-10 degrees; I just have to crack the door for an hour or crack the window, and heat problems are gone. I can’t vent into other parts of the house or outside, either.
@anon95385719 Already ordered but thanks. I’m tired of looking at lights. Got that red one that was recommended. It’s 800w which should be fine for my teeny grow tent.
@blackthumbbetty there is a window across from where I plan to put the vent. I also have a motored ceiling vent in that bathroom and I always have the ceiling fan running in my bedroom so between the 3 I think I should be ok. I’ll prob open the window once a day as long as there is no smell. Can’t have the neighbors suspecting anything although we’re the last people they’d suspect. They’d think it’s coming from next door. Because they’re the crazy party people … who are like 70 years old mind you. Ah the suburbs.
So I’ve got everything ordered. Tent is built just have to wait for everything to arrive so I can set it up. Of course the 2 most important things will take the longest. Says the light and the carbon filter won’t arrive until between the 6th and the 13th. My luck the seeds will come in next week. But who knows. I just want to have it all set and test it before germinating.
So when it all comes in, should I start a new thread with photos to ask if my setup is correct? Or just post here?
It doesn’t matter, it’s your thread, but if you do start a new one don’t forget to tag us all in.
Ok. I just want all my shit to get here already!! I need to get moving because if I don’t get to try a bud before I leave the country for a week I’m going to be PISSED!
Excited to get going and posting photos … hopefully of how well it’s going and not asking why my leaves are yellow and whatnot.
I read that WW auto’s flower for 8-9 weeks. I assume that doesn’t count veg time? So then how long is veg time typically? These are ILGM seeds but the description doesn’t specifically say how long before flowering.
@Budbrother where is the carbon filter in your photo? The tower in the right corner looks like a home air purifier. But I can’t see what the duct inside the tent is connected to. Just see the fan outside the tent.
@Donaldj is correct. Fan speed is very important. I always know when I have mine too slow because when I get near my grow rooms, I smell something. Every time it’s because I turned the exhaust fan down too much to try to lessen the noise.
Good to know. I got one with a speed control.
Run it mostly wide open when you’re flowering and you shouldn’t have any smell
As far as the carbon filter goes; you don’t need it for some time. It’s also advisable to not run it more than you have to as it has a finite life. I guess I’m saying you do have some time on that end.
Veg time can be something like 35 days. Plus seedling time.
@OldSkunk I hadn’t thought of that. Now if the LIGHT would come in sooner. Wondering if I should cancel and get something that has prime shipping
@jmorse28 you will still want to dial the fan back a bit. @OldSkunk just meant when in full flower. I’m able to turn my fan about halfway down, with still no smell. It’s more about having the negative pressure (vacuum) inside the tent, so you don’t have smells wafting outside before going through the carbon filter.
Another suggestion, when opening the tent in full flower, or disturbing the girls, you should turn the fan up all the way, so any “smelly air” (which actually smells pretty delightful strain pending) gets filtered.
You can veg them as long as you like, most people veg for 4 weeks. Except, of course, if it’s an auto, then you don’t get to choose it will flower when it’s ready.
Take the filter out completely until u need it. U will get tired of replacing them. Good luck I hope u get a fat bud before u have to go. Remember dry and cure time too. To do it right cure takes about 90 more days. But u can dry and cure in 10 if u really want to partake.
I’m going do a quick dry and cure of just a little bit so I can try it. Will let the rest dry and cure fully. Can I just leave it while it’s drying and curing? Again, I’ll be away for a week and so won’t be able to babysit it during that time.
So if you have a photo seed … you can veg for 4 weeks and then it takes how long to flower and be ready for harvest? Curious as to how much quicker photos are than autos.
Photos take on average 16 weeks and autos take about 10. Good amount of difference.
Oh so autos are faster? Wow, I thought photos were faster if you decide to flip them over early.
Hi @jmorse28
Wish you good luck and keep positive vibes throughout the grow, be it your first grow or not. We all make mistakes but we learn from them as well.
Regarding germination I leave the seeds submerged in water (pH 6) at room temperature 25ºC for 24-48 hours before taking them to the wet paper towels and then leave them some time in a dark calm place until they develop 1/2" taproots. Then move them to the 3 gal pots. (By the way there’s a myth on transplanting autos, I’ve done it many times and nothing happens if you don’t mess with the root system), but if you prefer put them in the final pots and rest assured you don’t stress the plants.
The substrate (I use coco - perlite) is wet (not soaked) in pH’d water (pH 6). Optionally you may use a very dilute solution of “START” fertilizer or dilute solution of root hormones (pH 6) but I guess it’s OK if you don’t use none of that.
In the first week I water once a week with “START” solution pH 6 (Flower Power) and after they develop two or three pair of leaves, if the soil is somewhat dry I watered only with pH’d water between fertilizer feedings.
After they develop 3 pairs of leaves I water them once a week with “GROW” solution pH 6 and the plants thrive. I feed them with nutrients once a week, according to the schedule given in ILGM site.
I use a 2016 ol’ 600 W full spectrum panel (abu 200 w real power) and 3 80 W full spectrum led bulbs I bought somewhere online and I add a 50 W cool white LED light to light from the bottom, That may prevent stems stretching. But I guess the lights are fine and proven to work well in previous opportunities.
The distance is about 30-35 cm from the hanging lights to canopy.
The set up I use with the auto’s is kinda primitive but cheap and efficient, I don’t have problems of light entering the room in the dark phase of the day and I don’t worry at all for smell, in Uruguay growing cannabis is legal (but tightly regulated by law) and since my home usually stinks of cannabis smoke all day I don’t mind of the plants smell. Besides the grow room has a lot of natural ventilation so I don’t need to use forced ventilation.
I’m performing LST since seedlings this time for the first time and I am eager to see what happens, I’ve always grown auto’s naturally with decent yields.
I leave you some pics, the plants are 3 weeks old, different varieties of autoflowering.
