fox farm happy frog it’s not as “hot” it’s more for for people like myself who are scared to trans plant at the right time to use the foxfarm ocean ![]()
i didnt wash pots and i love these pots I’ll be washing my pots in the future for sure
I use Happy Frog and Ocean Forest. They both have nutes in them. Happy Frog is less than Ocean Forest. So your girl is good for nutes for awhile.
That actually was my VERY FIRST mistake. And prompted me to FINALLY ask the grownies here for help!
I had 2 bag seed plants that we in 4" pots. I knew from reading not to start feeding until week 3ish.
Well i transplanted the 2 plants (Marilyn and Monroe) at Week 3 into Happy Frog and when i watered them in I used 1/4 strength of the feed chart for week 3! Because they were 3 weeks old.
Within days they needed help! Turns out the 3 weeks is from when you start the soil! So for me i was good until about week 6.
So for you the clock resets with each transplant.
This in when i learn the TDS Meter is vital to understand what is in the soil so i know when and how much to feed (and I’m still learning- with great teachers here! )
Here were Marilyn and Monroe are transplant…
About a week after transplant and i burned them with nutes…
I’m surprised that no one has suggested getting a good optical magnifier or digital microscope, so the insects can be photographed and identified. Seems to me that should have been the first thing to do.
alll in the process… as I am new to growing and learning thank you
I’m still trying to figure out a good one for myself ![]()
Got a link? I’ll need for trichomes soon
Yes, I saw that. But can you ID the insects in that photo?
This is the digital microscope I use. $33 at the moment on Amazon. If you buy one, mark the barrel so you can identify the correct orientation. Otherwise, you’ll struggle with problems like moving the specimen up and having the image move left, etc.
I also use this $20 stand to hold the microscope still and adjust its distance from the specimen. I wish it adjusted in X and Y, too, but for $20 it solves the biggest problem.
Well it did eliminate a few ![]()
Do you just hold it to the plant and take pictures and it loads to your phone?
a jewelers loop x20 or higher
@KayJet I have a jewelers loupe but not great for someone who also wears reading glasses for items up close lol
Also don’t take pictures to examine
When i bought what i thought was everything is need to grow a jewelers loupe was one of the items. In practice doesn’t seem to fit the bill
It connects to your phone via wifi or to a laptop via USB and displays the image in realtime. You can trigger photos by pressing a button on the scope.
For photographing plants in situ, I attach it to a camera tripod. It’s harder to get the distance right with a tripod, but it eliminates shake.
Awesome thanks. I see a lot of ppl use them just wasn’t sure which one. I prefer a link to items that are used ![]()
I like to keep it simple
I think this is the one i see a lot of members using
Wireless Digital Microscope, Skybasic 50X-1000X Magnification WiFi Portable Handheld Microscopes with Adjustable Stand HD USB Microscope Camera Compatible with iPhone Android iPad Windows Mac Computer https://a.co/d/3JNVAiX
they have little magnifying clips /lens you can also put on your phone depending how much you want to spend on such items
The sensor in the scope I have has 4X better resolution. They offer a price break if you buy the scope and stand together.
The stand that comes with the scope you linked has no controlled adjustments – it merely holds the scope still. My stand has a knob with a gear that enables precise adjustments (like optical microscope do).
Yes, and I expect they’re great for some things, but the digital microscopes typically go to 1000X. If you can find an optic for a smartphone that does that, it’ll probably cost more than your phone.
You sold me!
