So I’ve been flowering with a HPS 1000 W in a 5X5 with excellent results. Problem: heat and energy use. I’ve decided to give an LED for flowering a chance this time around. I picked up a KING LED (I’ll post the link below) and I plan to use it for five plants in the 5X5. Question: is this enough light or should I be rolling with two of these in one tent?
Here’s the ticket:
STRAIN: Blue Dream
MEDIUM: Super soil = Neem seed, hydrocorn, kelp, superchar, worm castings and Top Dressed with Nature’s Pride veg
POTTING: 5 gal. “smart pots”
PH: 6.5
LIGHTING: Originated in 2X2 tent with 125 CFL Agrobrite 18/6 cycle. Moved to MH 600 W 5X5 tent with exhaust and 2 oscillating fans 18/6 cycle
TEMP: 77-80 degrees
HUMIDITY: 45-65 %
WATER: 1 tbs Liquid Seaweed/gal + I ml Blackstrap Molasses/gal
I would stick with the HPS if your temps are holding below 80F as you indicate. You will be disappointed with that LED. It is actually only a 615 watt LED.
If you want an LED I’d go with HLG, Chilled, or DIY with Bridgelux. Each of these lights has high efficiency LEDs where the Amazon burples house old technology.
Don’t feel bad. Many growers here (myself included) have been through the very same thing. The Amazon listings are written to be very misleading. These companies are no good. I wrote a bad review on mine, gave them one star, and someone from the company emailed me to offer me money to take my review down.
Not too bad. It has the Samsung LM301B diodes which many of the high-end LED makers use. Not the best, but there are several growers here that are happy with them.
I grow under the same LED…not dissapointed at all and my girls look amazing. Sooooooo much less heat production as I had the same issue with my other high sodium lights…hot as all get out.
I’m using the hlg550 V2 rspec ,it’s a awesome light an does what it says ,low energy big yields and will flower your five plants in a 5x5 tent
I have just got 2x electric sky es300 and they are blowing my mind with the explosive growth 2x es 300 will flower a 5x5
So far my the hlg 550 does a way better job on flower than the old hps 1000 an the terps an resin production is far greater but that is just my opinion
Yeah definitely worth the money if you can afford them ,there’s plenty of great led lights now the cheaper ones are shit ,mars hydro are having massive problems with there new TS series ,have a look at Migros site he is the man when it comes too led lights and he test them the right way an gives honest reviews, the hlg 550 V2 rspec is still the most efficient light on the market the only light I know that is on par with it is the new lumatek Zeus pro that is one sexy light but there is a lot of media hype over them
I have a couple of HLG 320s and they rock. Great results with them. Low power for veg and full up for flower. Not too bad on the electric bill. A neighbor is using the bulbs and his electric use is jaw dropping for less yield than I get hands down. LED’s for me brother. Never looking back!
For what it’s worth, I’m running all HLG lighting. The 600H diy kit is PERFECT for my 5x5 flower tent. It costs a couple dollars more, but HLG lights are made in the USA with pride and craftsmanship using top shelf components. Steve or one of the other guys are just a phone call away if you need help. They are there every day AND they actually answer the phone. The customer service is second to none. I really can’t recommend them highly enough! As far as the lights, they hit WAYYY above their weight class. I’m vegging a 4x4 tent thoroughly with a little bitty 260 watt light! When something goes wrong and you need a part ASAP you can get it sent to you the very same day. If you can get someone in china to answer the phone, see how long shipping takes from Beijing. Just my $.02
