Boy ain’t that the truth! Not all of us have money to throw at problems. I’ve had to get very creative the past few years with very limited funds. Thank goodness for YouTube

Throwing $ at it isn’t always the answer
Although I won’t lie I do like to purchase new toys but most of the time that’s all it is more toys
You can get by just fine with some creativity @SmoknGranny

I 2nd that. I consider it a lot like my golf game lol. No amount of money is helping it! Things are certainly easier when you have an open budget, but dropping a bunch of cash won’t magically create monster buds, that’s for sure.

Yes. I have found out that when life throws you lemons just make some lemonade

Even as a woman I have had and still have many toys from guns and knives to cars and critters. Let me say it hurts when you have to sell your guns to keep a roof over mine & hubby’s heads but I can’t take them with me!

@SmoknGranny I feel for ya with selling your guns. I had to do that a while back with a couple of mine. Mainly to put food on the table. But it hurt. Yea, you cant take em with you, but you do get attached. I have started giving some of my guns to my kids. Had a 357 mag with a cowboy belt and holster. Beutiful gun setup. Gave it to my son and boy did he appreciate it. And loves it. He is the one of my kids that is into guns. The others, not so much. One is really into computers so figure I will give him all my puter stuff, which i have a bunch of. Was a puter nerd. And then I am really into photography. Lots of hobbies. Anyway, hope you are over having to sell any more of your guns. Dont have many left myself. Just enough for self defense. Nothing special.

Thanks. I’m afraid I’m going to have to sell more before it’s over. Just took a bit out of my Traditional IRA :frowning: Thanks to Obamacare I’m limited to just how much income per year without penalty. It’s going to be bad enough a year from now when my SS (617$) gets dinged for Medicare.
I really don’t have anyone to pass guns on to. At least not anyone I’d trust with a gun . I’m holding on to a couple of handguns and a shotgun for protection and the Benelli I gave to hubby as a wedding gift. I’m a”cougar” taking care of a younger hubby so I blew that big time LOL :joy:

@SmoknGranny well, I cant say much about ya being a cougar, my sons girl friend is 15 years older than he is, so she qualifies as one also. She seems a nice gal so I just am waiting to see how it goes for him. Those Benellis are nice weapons. What type?
I am lucky to be retired mil, well, was lucky. Our benefits are being slowly taken away or have been i should say. :worried:

The shotgun I have is just a single shot 12 guage. Packs a punch though. And the handguns I still have. 22 mag and a 9mm. The 357 was getting too heavy for me with my arthritis so it was a given I was going to get rid of it one way or another. :pensive:

Now I don’t feel so bad as I’m only 8 years older . We’ve been together 23 years. It’s been hard watching a strong and vibrant man become a little boy.
I’m pretty tired but will pull the Benelli shotgun out of the safe tomorrow and tell you the model.
I’m fond of my 22 & 32 revolvers. Both have the right balance and grips for my small arthritic hands. I do have a “new“ Sig which will be sold next.

@SmoknGranny my son and his girlfriend have been together, of sorts about 4 years now. She lives in New Mexico and for the most part its been a long distance relationship. Dont know about her, but my son has been faithful. That I know for sure. They talk every day via internet and via photos. He is planning on moving there likely before xmas. IF he can get a job out there.

Yea, i like my 22 also. Its got the interchangable cylinders so can shoot 22 shorts, longs and then 22 mag. I like the mag best. 8 inch barrel. Pretty accurate. The 9mm is semiauto and is ok. Not that accurate but can throw alot of metal down range. Sig???

Yea, I have the problems with arthritis in my hands though my hands arent really small. About a medium to large mens.

Having a rough time (lower back/sciatica) today so will get info on the Benelli over the weekend. Sig Saur pictured below. Never been used & too much for me to handle now.

That’s a pretty nice piece! I don’t think you’re geographically far from me, and the resale market on those is pretty solid around me. If you decide to sell be patient for a fair offer.

With the current performance of the 9mm defense ammo, it kinda seems like .40 is a dying caliber anyway. They’re still a good middle of the road pistol for someone who will probably only own the one. Otherwise it’s not that big of difference in ballistics to justify the additional cost over 9mm. The trend seems to be going back toward multi cal auto owners preferring 9mm and .45.

Thanks for the info. I felt like the local gun dealer was was trying to low ball with me being an old lady with $500. I’m no authority, but I’m also not stupid & I think he understood that by the expression on my face :joy:I have a plan to sell it elsewhere. I had a great & honest gun dealer in Hutchinson KS. Sure do miss that shop.

It’s a fair price from a dealer, but you also expect them to list it for $700+. Been a while since I looked at them off the shelf, but I’m sure they’re pushing $1000 if not already there. I would expect you get a little more than he offered from a private sale.

Yea, that is a nice pistol. Personally, I like the .40. Has a little more stopping power in my opinion. Wish I could afford it now. Just make sure as @dbrn32 said, dont let yourself be lowballed. That is a high value weapon and doesnt lose value. Now as a dealer, his offer wasnt too far off as he has to make a profit, but you should be able to get around 700 from a private sale and maybe a bit more. Those are worth it.
Good luck.

Yep they’re pushing $1000+. I did do my homework and yes he needs to make a profit. But I got a good read on his used gun prices and felt he was somewhat high. I’m rural and he’s the only one in this area without going to the city. I have a couple of guys to contact about selling it for me. I’m a fish out of water here without the networks I’ve had in the past for stuff like this.
