Hello new guy here.Bout to attempt growing, have a 4’x4’x7’ tent, some auto flower seeds and a kingled1000w light with flower and veg modes. I have many questions obviously but guess right now i have two big questions. 1- after germinating in water can i just put the sprout in the 5gal grow bag thing under the kingled lamp or do i need to use a 35w cfl bulb and put them in small containers to start? 2- is it necessary to have carbon filters or is that just for odor? On a side note, any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!
About to crush it growing more like it!
You can start either way you described. If you go big pot big light start far off with the light and work closer so as not to burn them. Manufacturer should offer some guidelines. I’d go further than they suggest and adjust according to stretch.
Carbon filter not necessary.
What medium are you planting in?
I have a mix of miracle grow organic and moisture control soil, i blended in a bag of worm castings and a layer of some moisture crystals a few inches below the surface.
Trash that. Save yourself a bunch of headaches
A perusal of the search function here on miracle grow will show you a bunch of angry plants and advice on not using miracle grow. Has time released fertilizers that are unpredictable
Stay far far far away from that crap. It’s very bad for cannabis.
Anything Miracle Grow is “Miracle NO” in this hobby.
Look into Fox Farms Ocean Forrest or Fox Farms Happy Frog, (Or a mixture of both)
Cannabis likes wet and dry periods thru the grow and Miracle Grow has nutrients in the
soil which isn’t good for young cannabis seedlings. You need the soil at a certain pH level.
you need to control when and how much vitamins you give them and MG is a major heart-
breaker for most new cannabis growers.
Ugh…dammit anyways. Ok i will definitely look into that…although idk if ill be able to get any soon enough for the ones i put in water today to germinate
You have a walmart nearby?
Oh walmart has it…i stopped spending my money there but can make an exception
Thank you for the heads up on miracle grow yo
They don’t, but they do have these two. Or should have one of the two. Both perfectly suitable for cannabis from seedling stage . I have tested this
And it’s cheap!
There are a ton of different types of soil you can get that would be far better than MC soil.
Anything organic is ok to start with, or any potting/seedling soil will hold you over until you
can get better soil.
Just remember:
Soil pH MUST be 6.0-7.0pH for chance of success
Same here. I don’t shop at that clown show any more.
Loews or HomeDepot should have something decent. If you are close to a
Tractor Supply near by that’s another good place to shop. Also if you’re able to find what
@Eagles009 posted above, that would be ideal from start to finish.
Your welcome.
We want people to grow banging bud around here. The dirt I posted will feed for 3-4 weeks. Some hotter soils will buy you another two weeks. Either way your looking at feeding at some point. What’s the plan there?
So i was only able to find the red pro mix. As for the feeding question since i wasn’t able to reply till now (reached max number of replies in the first 24hrs) i posted a question about it and followed some advice there and ordered jacks 123.
Red will be fine.
Perfect! Jacks 321 is what I use and would have recommended. Can’t get any cheaper or easier.
lol oh yeah its 321 not 123…well they went in the dirt this morning so hope for success
You got this man. Keep the soil moist, not WET, and enjoy. Have you tested your tap water or are you using distilled / ro?
I just planned on using tap water… i dipped a 5 part test strip (for pools technically) in a glass and looks like between 100-200ppm total hardness, 0ppm chlorine, between 7.2 and 7.5 ph, 80ppm total alkalinity and maybe slightly above zero ppm cyanuric acid
tested a glass out of my water pitcher and it looks like its on the bottom end of every category… which it should be i guess being filtered…but the low ph would be better wouldn’t it?
Total alkalinity is 40ppm i guess not zero
