Indoors 4x4
Soil
5 gal bags/pots
Hlg 600r
Temps kept between 64°-80°
RH 45-65%
Alaskan FF light dose once a week
The 2 most affected are the Critical Mass autos. They were fast growing only 39 days old today. The past few days growth has slowed and all the new growth is dull and curling under. The rest of the plant looks healthy. After research I found it could be overwatering, too many nutes, or wind burn. I am not sure which, any help is greatly appreciated. I have lowered all fans, and have been allowing them to dry out.
Looks to me like nitrogen toxicity
How far is your light from the canopy?
It would be safe to say 24 inches would be a proper distance.
32" between 290 and 350 ppfd all around 18/6
I just ran into this with some photos… do a slurry test and check your ppm. Mine was waaayyy low…
@Tylersays What is the safest most effective way to lower soil ph?
The safest way is probably a plain water flush.
How high is the Ph in the soil?
That could be a little bit of nitrogen burn in the pic but of the Ph isn’t too far out of whack, say 7.5 or above, I wouldn’t stress over it and just do the next couple of waterings at like 6.0.
That’ll help bring it down and flush out extra nutes.
That’s basically all a flush is. Just run about 3-5x the volume of the bag through the bag of Ph’d water, depending on which way you need it to go.
So at 7.5 or above in a 5g bag you’ll run at least 15g of low Ph, say 6.0, plain water through the soil. You can check the run off again during the last bag through and it’ll show you if the Ph is moving and if the PPMs are dropping.
FF soils are famous for having a heavy nute charge and some plants just don’t eat as much as others. The plant isn’t looking horrible and the clawing is just on the newest growth. I’d play it by ear and see how it goes over the next few days and wouldn’t give any more nutes atm for sure!
My first grow in FF looked like hell until she ate away some of that pre-loaded stuff. Once it started coming down the plant looked a lot better.
I had curling, mutant leaves and crazy colors then she started flying right after a month or so.
It generally takes a month or more to eat through the available stuff in the mix.
A really quick auto could be done in FF from start to finish with little to no extra nutes from some of the PPM numbers I’ve seen. LOL!
They turn it up to 11! LOL!
You don’t suggest sulfer or other additives? I was thinking about it and have a few options on my list. Also thought about adding spent coffee grinds to the soil to increase acidity.
I’ve actually got some ammonium sulfate myself but I’ve chickened out on using it! LOL!
I always manage to avoid Ph issues till the end of the grow and the stuff is like 21-0-0 so I didn’t want the nitrogen boost to throw the girls too much so I limped them to the end.
I’m also not sure if I ever found accurate dosage measurements either.
My run off was at like 7.8(YIKES!) and they were yellow as a banana but the buds stayed fairly green. I figure the plant stripped everything it could from the fans for them.
They smell just as funky and are as sticky as the ones with no issues.
That’s what I get for growing to many plants of different strains at once! LOL!
I would be inclined towards the coffee grounds since it seems a little slower and probably longer lasting than the chemicals.
Oh wow - that’s low!
I overloaded my bags with microbes and cooked the hell out of them!
