I just started germinating 4 seeds that was initially for an outdoor grow, but I have finally convinced my wife that indoor is better for our situation- but she says I can’t spend too much on equipment.
Really looking for some expertise on what equipment I can buy for as cheap as possible. I don’t need anything fancy- just a light that works, a tent, and some sort of ventilation system I assume (again, new grower so please let me know if there is anything I missed)
@Rugar89 Rugar has a very nice list laid out and has everything he needs with the light he picked being the bulk of the bill but thats because it’s a its a higher end light. you can probably bargain shop and get everything for about half what rugar spent. Lighting is where your gonna drop the most money on depending what you pick. doing 4 plants, you could do 2 lights and spread the light equally like 2 300w mars hydro for 99$ a piece or a viparsprectra 450w dimmable for would get job done as well for 180$. Really just comes down to bargain shopping and getting exactly whats needed
I saw a day or two ago someone posted a good deal on a COB LED for $99 on Amazon. I believe it was 300 watt. That’s a fantastic price.
You could potentially save on the tent and build a box out of aluminized Styrofoam sheeting and aluminum tape. Dirt cheap, insulated, rigid and somewhat structural, fire retardant, reflective, around $10/ 4X 8’ sheet and cuts with a utility knife. That’s the direction I went and am quite happy with it.
So I am going to pull the trigger and attached is what I am going with.
@Rugar89 I know I’ll need some other odds and ends but I’m thinking this should be enough to get me started? Tag in anyone else who you think could offer up some input please!
I believe that a COB led of 300 watt will put out more light than the light you have selected. Also, you don’t need a carbon filter for some time. You can stagger your purchases to spread the cost.
