Hey guys I’m a new grower. I will be growing auto flowers in a 4X4 tent and wanted suggestions as far as lights. I’m not really worried about the price just want to make sure I’m getting the best yield I can. (And yes I know there’s other things that factor into yield) Also any suggestions on nutrients would be appreciated it too just remember I’m growing Autos
(Error) So I’m not completely new. I have grown before and am familiar with majority of things. It’s just been about 4 years. I just don’t remember the name of the light I had. I know I had 2 HLG lights and one was for veg while the other was for flower. But was looking to get one I could use for both stages of life
First: recommend doing photos as they are MUCH more forgiving.
Lighting: the top of the line is Horticulture Lighting Group (HLG) but Spider Farmer is good as well. Look for between 150 and 200 actual watts PER PLANT.
Nutrients: JR Peters, Jack’s 3-2-1 program. The most cost-effective nutrient line out there and does a great job.
I grow both and the benefit with photo period plants is the luxury of time. If anything goes south you have the time to correct the issue so that you’re flipping a healthy plant, with autos you do not have the luxury due to the short veg period before flowering sets in. You mentioned yield and again a benefit to photo period, denser buds and bigger plants. I’ve had autos that yielded 12 ounces but it’s really rare
I second Szhlux! Can’t touch them FOR THE MONEY! @jraycoshotz , I’ll tag you in my journal, you can see first hand the results with Szhlux. I run a 620 in a veg tent and an 840 in flower room. You could do well with either in a 4x4.
If anything stalls out an auto your yield will be pitiful. I hate to burn $$ on lights without a decent return for the money.
I have been growing in Autopots for the last 4 years and love them. You could run two photoperiod plants in a 4 X 4 with the additional benefit of being able to train them. Supercrop, SCROG etc. which helps to turn a round footprint into a rectangular one. Autopots are a gravity feed bottom tray system that runs on coco for medium (ideally). 14 gallon reservoir will keep them fed for days in flower.
Jack’s is a dry medium and I believe is a re-branded JR Peters commercial fertilizer. You run Part A: NPK of 5,12,26 mixed into water followed by Part B: NPK 15,0,0. Finally add straight Epsom (unscented) salts. PH to your desired value and dump in the rez. No flushing, no schedule changes; just feed from start to finish. A lot of folks are using it.
AC infinity lights are pretty great. That’s what I run. I run Jacks321 and add silica blast in autopots. They’re a game changer for the watering game. I use Mother Earth Groundswell soil 60/40 with perlite and it works fine with them.
