New grower needing help with AK-47

They generally play nice with each other.
Mellow like the consumers of themselves. :expressionless:

@HMGRWN Thank goodness I want them to play well with each other, lol.

Yes the room has to be dark and around 65-68 degrees and 50%RH and dry slowly 7-10 days.

That is an overstatement!
Dark is good because THC degrades faster in the light. That is a cumulative effect and the brighter the light, the greater the degradation.
However, cool, dark(ish)and good airflow are what is most important to drying. I just dried a plant that yielded 4 oz in a “modified” 2’x2’ cardboard box right next to my grow.

That is mixing 2 things sorta. (Persistent)light getting to a regular photo period plant during the dark cycle while flowering can cause it to re-veg and disrupt bud growth. Good airflow is probably the most important part of drying. As I said “dark is good” but not critical.

I harvest the whole plant sometimes and sometimes the individual branches. After drying I put them in Grove Bags, they maintain a consistent 60-62%RH and no burping needed :love_you_gesture:

I got the 1/2 oz size, solid black. Love the fact they are reusable.

Same here and yep, several used bags back in the stack

Easy-peasy.

Here is the one I just finished.

@HMGRWN @OGIncognito I can reuse them, this is great. I might have to take up smoking again after all this, lol. I will probably just sell it to my friends though. I’m not looking to get rich over here, lol. The joy of the grow is all I really like. This is something that I can one day make a business out of, lol. The government just needs to get over it already.

@HMGRWN oh wow. I can make that. God knows I get enough boxes from amazon, lol. You did the whole plant it looks like. Was wondering if I needed to cut off bunches as it dried incase I get big flowers. I don’t want it ti mold and mildew.

I started back smoking about 10 years ago after a 20 year break and the THC levels have increased tremendously. It’s actually my therapy sessions :love_you_gesture:

Used this many times when a tent was occupied :love_you_gesture:. It works like a champ

What about the air flow that is needed to dry? do you put a fan in there? @HMGRWN @OGIncognito

Yes but not directly blowing on them. I just try to keep it circulating with a light breeze blowing by them

Yes, I ran a pvc pipe thru the branches to keep it off the bottom. It was in there like that for a week then I cut the branches and trimmed it up before hanging for 2 more days.
Individual nugs are now clipped off and will be going in bags any day now. They are still just a tad too wet.

@HMGRWN so like a couple weeks is all it takes. I was reading that it takes like a month to dry. Then there is the jars and so on. I need something simple for my first go around until I get use to the whole growing/drying phase. I don’t want to get that far and then mess it up, lol.

As you see I cut holes in opposing sides and covered with a carbon mesh. There is a fan blowing past it which keeps a gentle circulation going in the box.

I would absolutely go nutz waiting.

My fastest dry was like 5 days and it is hard for me to “cure” anything. I am smoking a little of what I showed here even though it clogs up my grinder not being completely dry yet.
I did manage to squirrel away some Strawberry Cheesecake and is is 6 weeks into the cure.
Honestly what I grow is so much better than what I was buying, the cure time is just time I don’t get to be enjoying it. It is “better” cured but it is damn good not even dry…

I’m really getting excited about all this now. I might need to move to Colorado or something, lol. I love to learn new things and this is just on my bucket list to do. Never know the world may come to an end I need a job, lol. I will save my hydroponics for my tomatoes, lol. I will definitely update with photos of the girls if y’all would like to see them grow.
