Hello All,
New to ILGM and First time grower. Just had a question on the 2 plants I started, Cheese Auto Flower. As you can see in the picture the plant on the right is considerably taller than the left. Both Germinated same time, tap root same time and planted same time, same soil same light etc. These are now 10 days old, growing faster than I actually imagined, but the right one just seems to be a beast of a grower. No nutrients at all just distilled water. Question is basically is this fairly normal and should I expect the right one to be above average in size. Tent is 2x2x64, temp 72f humidity 60% very little if any change in either since day one. I am a Cigar aficionado and am very well versed in humidity control as I have over 2000 cigars. Thanks!!

Thanks, love reading all the posts here, tons of awesome info which has helped already, look forward to posting more as time goes on. Ordered new seeds from here just waiting for them to arrive. White Widow Auto CBD.
They’re both stretching like crazy they’re not getting enough light I’d say they need about 20% higher ppfd
Agree, They need more light.
Thanks, I thought maybe that was it, saw on another post about if they look like they are praying they need more light. Now that I know I will increase. Just got a HLG 65 V2 Set up just wasn’t sure whether to use it or not, now I know.
How far away is your light? I don’t know alot about this but they look kinda stretched out.
18"-24" not a great light to be honest, 24" WalMart grow light, new didn’t know any better.
I would look into getting an HLG 135 for a 2x2 tent. 66 watts is nowhere near enough light for even one plant.
A bigger light will help your future with these baby ladies. But for seedling stage a simple cfl bulb will do you. I’d move your light a bit closer between 12-18 inches depending. They will stop stretching and start stacking.
HLG lights are some of the most expensive lights I have seen. Im not sure there is justification for the cost difference. Spider farmer has quantum board lights same as HLG. They almost look the same even. I got a Mars Hydro fc series with same diodes as quantum boards half the price.
I will move it closer thanks, I can’t seem to find the HLG 135, I find the HLG 100, the 136 shows as a kit? Assuming this means I would have to assemble, which isn’t a problem.
There’s a lot more to lights than surface level similarities.
HLG lights are a bit more expensive, but they’re worth it.
The best route for your money is diy
Everything I have read to date says the HLG is superior lighting, and Spider as well. I am leaning towards HLG, I know they cost more but in the long run I believe worth it. When I start a new hobby I tend to go all in, Cigars for instance, if my wife knew what I REALLY had invested she would divorce me and make damn sure she got them in the settlement lol.
Of course there is. However, when you have same diodes and same design down to the over all outward appearance and materials what difference is it that you pay the extra money for?
Performance, spectrum, ie. efficacy. There are differences in diode batches.
I’ve said it many times. One can grow marijuana with just about any light source. The results however, will vary, as well as your electric bill.
How much of those differing results are based solely on light source. I have seen plants in a 2.3x2.3 space with a 100 watt LED create huge amounts of dense buds. There is a point when the extra hundreds of dollars spent on a light do not matter. Might even better be spent on fans, controllers, and nutes to help maintain the environment in which you are growing. I stand by my statement, HLG is too expensive vs other brands for what they actually offer. Even in the event that no other diodes exist that can do what HLG’s batch of Samsung can do. If they study marketing science at all, the reason their price is highest, is because people will think it must be the best otherwise it would be cheap as the others. Talk to me when the difference is more then 25% from one batch of Samsung diodes to the other.
I think there is a difference.
That’s why there is a difference in price.
As pretty much always (you get what you pay for)
@dbrn32
Would be able to elaborate a lot more.
I am legally blind so I am not going to read through all the posts so far. I hope you do not mind.
all plants have the potential to be different. I would not worry about it at all. Just like 2 brothers. Same Mom, Dad, yet both are different. One is taller then the other.
Looks like you have a nice start and a comfty set up. Once they get a little bigger we can deal with any issues that develop. Hopefully you will jsut have a strong healthy grow.
Hope this helps. Let nature be nature…Well as much as you can indoors…LOL
