Need some help, VERY new to this

Hi all! I just stumbled on this forum and it is absolutely awesome! Such a vast wealth of knowledge which is extremely helpful.

A few months back (September 2023) I found a seed in some of my flower I got from a dispo and I decided just to plant it just for shits… never thought of growing, just thought a marijuana plant would be a cool plant to have. To say I am a beginner is an understatement… didn’t really understand how much is involved with keeping your plants healthy and happy.

To make a very long story short, as my plant began to grow and thrive I grew very fond of the idea of getting my feet wet and trying to actually grow. Nothing serious, just a plant or two to see how the entire process works.

That said, my plant from September is still alive and up until last week was going very strong considering I haven’t done much at all with it. From the time I planted it in some regular soil, it sat by my kitchen window which gets decent light all day long. I didn’t do any kind of nutrients, just water. Fast forward to today, my plant is a few weeks into the flowering stage. I decided to get a spider farmer 3x3 tent setup and placed it in there and changed to the 12/12.

In the last few days I’ve noticed that the top of the plant appears to be burning a little and I think it got too tall and is too close to the lights. Today, I was able to rig the light so that it is a bit higher. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how best to move forward. Is it too late start adding any nutrients? Is there anyway I can help get the plant back to the bright vibrant green it once was? I certainly don’t want to lose the plant if I can help it.

I did buy some new seeds from a very reputable site and am ready to start the process again once my current plants grow is over.

Below are a few photos of the plant as it is today.

I thank you in advance for any help/advice you can share.

Temp?
RH?
PH?
Are you feeding?
Did you just feed before taking the pictures?
Run off ph?
What week of flower?

Id also defoliate some of those fan leaves as there’s too many stealing the energy rather than giving the energy to the bud. Id remove 20-30% of those fan leaves. Any that look like theyre dying, covering prime spots and ect.

Id also lower the light just a bit (that’s just me)

ID ALSO WAIT FOR OTHER REPLIES AS IM ONLY ON MY SECOND GROW.

It looks hungry. Its never too late to feed it, unless its dead. Plant looks good otherwise. What brand of soil is it in.

So, you ready for how much of a beginner I am… I don’t even know what that means. I’m not sure how to check the RH and PH.

The temp gets a little cold at night as it sits in my garage. Probably around 60 degrees F.

The only thing I’ve fed the plant is tap water.

I did not water the plant today, it was watered yesterday.

Not sure what run off PH is.

I’ve read that it may be too late to trim some of the fan leaves this far into flowering, thoughts?

What do you suggest feeding at this stage, I’ve found a lot of diff recommendations, just overwhelmed. The plant is in “organic seed starter” which is a “premium potting mix” I picked up from garden store by me.

Doesnt look too far. What week?
Also, rh as in do you have any way to tell us the humitity %? If i was you id invest in a ph testing kit that comes with ph up and down. If you have liquid nutes put them into a gallon of tap water, then test the ph and go from there. Either up or down.
For me, once i put nutes in i have to ph up and i always ph to 6.5 .

Your plant looks hungry

I wouldnt transplant. If i was you. Id grab some foxfarm nutrients. They should have a starter pack. Your plants look like theyre craving calmag.

Also, dont over water. 1 maybe 2x a week should be plenty. Depending on the environment and etc.

The RH is 62%.

The plant has been growing since September. So this is month 8! She’s quite old at this point. Trimming at this stage wouldn’t stress her out too much? I’d love to trim and get some of the large leaves off.

So you recommend I grab this and start feeding it asap?

And calmag. Ph testing kit that has ph up and down also. But also wait for other replies and the humidity is fine.

And they’re 8months but how long have they been showing signs of flowering?

Ok, I just ordered both. Should be here tomorrow.

Flowering started (as in I began seeing pistols grow) the first week of March.

Couple days past due but yes. You can defoliate in week 4 of flower.

Keeping all the leaves will stunt the growth as will defoliating.

Id give a decent defoliation, focusing on bottom leaves and prime bud sites blocked by fan leaves.

Get 1 gallon of tap water
Add your nutes/calmag
Ph to 6.5 and then feed your plant. I bet magic will happen.

Wont hurt it to remove some of the lower bigger leaves specially if they have damage. You want good airflow through the interior. Get yourself a good ph meter. When you waer of feed you want the ph to be around 6.5
7 is neutral. My well water is 8 so I have to use ph down when Im watering. If I’m feeding the nutes usually bring the ph down to right about where I want it.

Here are some of my observations:

More than likely you do not have enough light.

Not knowing your soil media it’s hard to offer any guidance there other than the fact plant is suffering from Nitrogen deficiency. At this point the plant needs a jolt of Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK). I would actually suggest something like General Hydroponics Grow, Micro and Bloom:

https://www.amazon.com/General-Hydroponics-Flora-FloraMicro-FloraBloom/dp/B09M942WYB/?tag=greenrel-20

When working with liquid nutes you will need to have a couple of decent tools: a bucket to mix, mixing spoon, a liquid measure and both TDS and PH meters. The last items are probably the most important tools you can own.

https://www.amazon.com/Apera-Instruments-AI209-Waterproof-Accuracy/dp/B01ENFOHN8/?tag=greenrel-20

This is a decent unit: you can get some that are way cheaper but they are inaccurate and fail fairly quickly.

https://www.amazon.com/Accurate-HoneForest-Temperature-0-9990ppm-Aquariums/dp/B073713G5F/?tag=greenrel-20

You will also need PH up and down, and storage solution for your PH meter. (unit must be stored in a 4.01 PH solution so the bulb doesn’t dry out)

Here is my current journal: check it out and ask questions.

Biggest thing to consider is how much you want to invest in this, because things start adding up quick once you get hooked. If youre just testing the waters to see if its for you or not, i wouldnt sink too much into it, keep it simple and easy, soil and like down to earth nutrients brand are pretty reasonable and they have a pretty good vareity of NPK, if you have a decent soil itll help regulate things like ph and nutrient load ive found.

If he was growing in fox farm ocean forrest and was in the last weeks of veg id say transplant into new soil but its either invest now and have some for the future or most likely get little to no yeild.

Welcome to this life long addiction…ahem…i mean hobby!

Go easy on yourself…there is a lot to learn - and i do mean a lot (if you’re so inclined). You will fail…enjoy the failures, they make your eventual success that much sweeter!

The plant above looks starved to my eye…all good growmie! Don’t overreact by giving her a double dose tho

Seed the planet!

Welcome to the forum @YMY Every one of us here were right where you are right now. We were all beginners at this at one time or another. Never be afraid to ask questions. We are all here to help each other.

Feed it. Bloom nutes maybe a little extra nitrogen first feed. Just my thoughts. Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn’t recommend the FF nutrients for a beginner. This line of fertilizer is extremely salt heavy and requires periodic flushing. Looks into Jacks nutrients. 2 parts, simple and very cannabis friendly :love_you_gesture:
