Wondering if theres a difference between long veg vs sog yield as well…thinking it would be similar in yields but considering @MrPeat grows monster plants he doesn’t run a 12/12 from start
@MD_Herbology I only grow Photos. As for yields it varies. My last two crops was this. Remember I pulled them both early.
3.32 z’s dried and cured…Blue Dream
Then next was 8 z’s dried and cured. Now my next 3 plants should even be more. I plant can take up a 4x4x80” with ease. I had 4 this cycle and one plant I pulled early because she was pushed into the corner of the tent. She was loaded with flowers but not the strength to hold up the branches.
I do run a 12/12 from start to finish. My GSC Beast was as in Veg for 3 months and ended up with 8 z’s dried and cured. These plants have way more flowers.
If u run 12/12 from beginning would u make up for small yields (per plant) by growing a bunch at one time making its yield similar to a long vegged beast? Or does vegging a girl out give you better yields compared to sea of green
I tried growing a bunch at one time under a Viparspectra PAR600 and my White Widow killed 6 plants off. They couldn’t get any light.
I’ve upgraded my lights in Oct 2019 and I don’t look back. My GSC Beast Vegged for 3 months and if I remember correctly she was in flower 50’ish days when I pulled her so my new crop would stand a chance.
I don’t know about SOG in how it compares to what I do. I do know if you Veg long enough, your plant will really respond in producing lots of flowers. This is from my personal experience. Also a longer Veg time will help the branches to become hardy aka hold a lot of weight.
Once the two plants are ready for harvest, you will get to see what my big girl really looks like. She will be able to fill a 4x4 tent with ease. And she is fully loaded and I’m glad for it because I have a friend with Cancer that needs CBD strain. Even though she loves GSC and Blue Dream for pain management. But she wants to stay clear headed this my next crop will be a 23% CBD strain.
And remember, I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years. So I know my system inside out. I don’t need a lot of marijuana. If I can get 8 z’s or more, that will keep me and the friend with enough to last a full year.
Also…I suffer from massive spinal damage so it’s really hard on me physically thus I don’t do a SOG.
Growing sog would be alot more labor intensive…I’m on my first grow, well second technically my first I had to cut mid flower bc of a unexpected move but plan on trying scrog with a beast plant (in a 4x4), sog or somewhere in between to see what works best for me…that’s one big cola doubt I’m gonna get anything like that until I get some grows under my belt
Don’t knock yourself down. You will be able to do it. I’ve been growing since May 2018 and it took time to learn my system. If I wasn’t on a fixed income, I would grow 18/6 till she flowered. Then I’d switch to 12/12.
I actually joined this forum because my GSC Beast kept growing and growing and growing. The plant according to the breeder said GSC is a small plant that didn’t get over 30” tall. Hahahaha…that was false. Others have experienced the same with GSC.
The advantage of SOG is based on small plants with lots of colas. SCROG is kinda the same from what I gathered. I’m sure I would get more weight on a SOG grow but I’m in no rush. I’ve already smoked over 100 different strains and my seed bank is over 400 seeds.
Big plants are a challenge. They need more water and also more nutrients. My GSC Beast I ended up growing her side ways. No, that isn’t a joke. She was so heavy when I cut the zip ties that I had her held down by stayed sideways due to the weight of the flowers.
Hahah do you have any favorites to grow? Looking at all the different strains makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop
@JohnDoe97, to answer your question on what yields More…
You are only restricted by your lowest limiting factor. In most cases it’s your light.
If you are pulling 200 true watts(not advertised watts) then at an average of 1g/watt you will yeild 200g.
With that light you would yeild 200g with one plant or with 10 plants. As you can only produce what your light is capable of.
Now I used the example of 1g/watt. That is a goal for alot of people but if your just starting out keep expectations to .5g/watt which is still very good. As it’s less about yeild n more about quality.
