This is a 4 week old auto flower, Gorrilla Cookies from Fast buds. She’s in three gal pot with 50/50 mix of Cana Coco Happy frog with added Gaia Green and worm castings. I have not given her anything since planted except for water ph 6.0. I only water when needed usually every 3-4 days. I checked the soil ph today and it was 6.3. She is looking rough and I need some help lol. I was thinking Cal mag deficiency maybe so last watering four days ago I added cal mag with iron 5ml per gallon. she needs to be watered today and I don’t know what I should do to help her out ? I have three other auto flowers that have gotten all the same as her and the other three are doing great looking great.
Couple of questions:
Is this a 50/50 mix of coco and soil?
Are you strictly organic aside from the cal/mag and iron?
Yes I’m trying to be as organic as possible but my top priority is healthy plants ! Here are pics i f the other 3 planted same day as the other with the same mixture of everything.
Those three are 91 grapes autos from Knight Owl
I would suggest not mixing coco and soil in the future. Soil and coco each have differing pH and watering requirements. It’s best to pick one and stick with that.
Your pH and watering practices seem okay. I would keep pH at around 6.0 given the coco/soil mix. It may just be a matter of the one plant being less tolerant to the coco/soil environment. Mixing them can create challenges for root health and nutrient uptake.
I agree with you. I will never mix the two again! In the future it’s 100% Coco for me ! I did it at the advice of somebody that said they had great luck with it, but they were using the mix in auto pots if that would make any difference. I just want to finish this run out as good as I can. Do you think the leaves on the one I’m having trouble with look like Calmag deficiency possibly ? or are you thinking it’s just a pH problem? what’s your suggestion on the water PH I give her today ? 6.0 ?
Give it a rest and see what it does, it wont die doing nothing but you can kill it with nutes
From the pics, it’s a magnesium deficiency, give her a shot of Epsom, the yellow and light green between the veins tells me magnesium. Calcium will make small orange or brown spots on leaves. You could use cal mag too, it will just give it both mag and calcium….
If you could, water til you get just a bit of runoff and post the PPM and PH of that. You could have a ph issue locking some nutes out.
Ok thanks everyone i will check the runoff now .
The runoff Ph was 6.3 and the EC was 2.39 ! .
I just got my ECP pen yesterday, but I’m pretty sure that’s way too high of an EC.
An EC of 2.39 is a PPM of ~1,200, which is fine.
Ok thank you I just got my Apera ec20 pen yesterday and i’m trying g to learn it. What is the formula for ec-ppm. my pen doesn’t read ppm just ec. I’m starting a run with 100% coco in auto pots with Canna Cooco A&B and I don’t wanna start anything until I get this. ec ppm down.
An EC of 2.0 = 1,000 PPM. An EC of 1.0 = 500 PPM.
The scale is linear, so you can go from there. Maintain a runoff PPM of 1,000 and don’t worry if you are off a few hundred PPM here-and-there.
Thank you for making that simple !! Everything i was reading made it so complicated. 500 scale 700 scale Ec, ppm, tds all was confusing the heck out of me LOL .
TDS is just another way of looking at it and isn’t necessary to understand. The 500 scale is commonly used in North America. You can ignore the 700 scale.
My ec pen came factory set on 700 scale. What does it read when set on tds/ppm’s. An ec of 2.39 on a 700 scale would be around 1673 ppms.
