Need help ladies not looking right

Hey there these ladies are between 2-3 months old and I can figure out what’s wrong with them. They are in FFOF and I feed with advanced nutrients. Sensi Bloom A and B. Carbo Load and some Big Bud.
What am I missing here. They are all under Mars Hydro light 18/6 scheduled. Temps 73-80. Humidity is around 40 -45

Assuming you have been watching the ppms in and out as well as the pH I would guess the soil pH may be off.
Have you flushed the soil recently?
Have you tested run off pH? Or done a slurry test?

Late in flowering the plants will sometimes do this no matter what you do. They just consume themselves. To me it looks a bit too early for that though.

I have not been checking run off but I do check the PH when watering. I have not flushed only water them every 2 -3 day

@SpaceCadet I e read that FF will have ph issues a few months in. You should check your runoff ph and ppm’s. A heavy flush could reset you. Are you growing auto or photos?

Gotcha I will try that. I’m running Autos

Autos can be more sensitive to nutes than photos. Managing runoff pH and PPM can help you avoid problems going forward.

I have been using Fox Farms exclusively for 4 years and I have never had a pH issue. It’s generally the grower and not the nutrients and what not. Well except for say Miracle Gro. But even then that is all on the grower. :+1:

I just grow. No ppm, pH, runoff and etc etc etc.

@Spiney_norman From what I am seeing it’s a pretty good chance she is hungry. It just has that look to me. Looks like the one plant that cannibalised fan leaves due to not feeding enough nutrients. And more flowers there is, the hungrier she becomes. Hard to adjust the perfect amount.

@MrPeat Gotcha. I had recently read a thread from a FF user who said they always had a ph issue in the soil about 2-3 months in and they were someone who is a lot more experienced than me. I was looking for an issue I seemed to be having with possibly salt build up or whatever and ended up adding lime to my soil. Maybe @Newt who is a FF guy might remember who it was that was talking about FF soils ph crashing late in a grow… maybe it was @Graysin or @OGIncognito ?? Idk now. CRS kicking in. :man_shrugging:

I try lol. :wink::confounded:

I don’t remember. But anyone who is using FF nutrients should also do a Sledgehammer flush about every 3 weeks, per the published FF schedule:

I’m using only the FF soil. I use the bottle notes by advanced nutrients

@Fieldofdreams No clue who it would be. This soil is 1.5 years old. I did not flush. This is the 3rd run in the same soil. I’m now using as little nutrients as possible as I have found the smoke is so much better and it hasn’t hurt the trichomes either.

.

@Newt thanks buddy. I read so much that when I try to pinpoint where I saw something it can be a struggle for this old brain lol.

You are not alone.

@MrPeat yup, I take your word for it. I read a lot of your posts. I just based my opinion to @SpaceCadet in a way I hoped would be hopeful. I’m trending upwards though lol. Eventually I may get the hang of this. Give me a minute lol. :+1:t2::sunglasses::green_heart:

The key to using Sledgehammer is it takes time to dry. I did what the email from FF said and the total amount
was 1 gallon. It took over 5 days to dry.

I have only flushed once in 4 years. I’m not kidding. That is why I call myself an anomaly as I break every grow rule.

I find that in my rain science bags, my normal feeding (1 gallon) and my Sledgehammer flush (2 gallons) both dry out in two days, and are ready for feeding again. But when I was in fabric, it did take longer for the Sledgehammer flush to dry. I don’t, however, remember how much longer.

Ur pushing them hard going by the burnt tips on leaves

I see way to many posts that deals with this or that problem, but then you find out they are adding all kinds of things as well. Food for insects.

I have only done water and nutrients. The one time I did use Cal-mag I had to pull them. I just did it for the s$g of it. I will never make that mistake. Plenty of Cal-mag in our water.

I live in South Texas. The insects and what is pretty horrendous. Only problem I have to deal with is when it’s so dry here the flies come in for water. Luckily the Repel Fly strip tube works perfectly.

So I always wonder if I would do what others do, I am pretty sure I would need CJDB spray and Neem oil. Have you thought of this? I say this after 4 years of growing in some pretty hostile indoor weather.

Light leaks causes Hermies. I don’t buy into that either. My grow room is lit up. During the entire day…from Sunrise to Sunset. Grow tent door wide open. Room door also open. I have digital timers with the red lights on inside the tent.

Now I am not saying this can’t influence the problems, but if you could actually see what I am doing, you would be thinking the same as me. Question everything.

With all I don’t do, my plants should never survive. Thus I say it’s the grower. I do absolutely zero pretty much. I guess good ole Mother Nature smiles down on my grows.

Agree with this. I too don’t bother to zip the tent or block the indicator lights on stuff.
I will take a flashlight and check stuff during lights out from time to time.
I believe hermies are more genetic than environment. I have found bananas on a plant before, but they were extremely late in flower and more likely due to that than some stress. Haven’t had any in a couple years now.

Circled in green: looks like burn from the light being too close/intense/on too long. Circled in red: safer harbor from light, thus not black around leaf margins.

@MrPeat I would like to bend your ear sometime about how you use Fox Farm soil. Cool if I tag you in my journal for convorsation on this?

I use FFOF and FFSF with trio both liquid and pk boosters. Sledgehammer is a waste. Its not necessary for a flush. You will get same results if you run 1/3 volume of your flush water through plant wait 10-15 mins for water to penetrate soil and free up salts, then proceed with other 2/3 volume of water. Wait another 15 mins (so excess water can drip) and do a full feed. Works like a charm! Something I do, others may not, is to use a garden pump sprayer (pictured below) to do the feed part. Its slow but that gives the soil good opportunity to soak up the feed liquid after already being wet.
