Do you know what the board voltage and current specs are? Asking because I’m not at all familiar with the SF components and I haven’t run down a swap on these before.

I think my first step would be to reach out to SF for warranty replacement. Not sure of how good and timely they are with this but they should defend warranty a 5 month old part.

This is a 60v ouptut driver and most are 54v with an operating range to about 56-57 volts. I would hate to have you buy something that I’m not 100% sure will work. At thumb eyeball assessment you’re probably looking for drivers similar to what hlg uses in their 700/750 watt applications.

The Spider Farmer SE series features the Samsung LM301B diodes. They use 3000k and 5000k full spectrum diodes along with 660nm deep red diodes. There are 336 diodes on each LED bar for a total of 2,688 diodes. The power draw is about 730-watts, so there are about 3.7 diodes per watt or 0.27 watts per diode.

The way the drivers work is very difficult to be sure without the board voltage. Are you able to see if it’s printed on the board anywhere?

I tried doing quick google search looking for the info and it seems driver failure is pretty common on these but nobody I seen posting a legit replacement model number.

Yup at first i thought it was a dimmer issue but then i tested everything out and the dimmer i swapped to my othwr light to make sure and it worked perfectly so down to its just the drivwr and i will look to see if i can find the board voltage

I’d imagine following the specs on that original driver would work. Says it’s a 750W driver 38-56V. That’s just speculation I don’t really know, but generally with electronics any type of power supply matched in voltage, amperage and AC/DC type should work. Now feeling confident in finding that replacement to fit perfectly and having the confidence to do and trust the work
Is a different story. considering its load usage and peak output, Personally I always aim for 70-80% duty cycle at its max setting or less to lower heat and extend service life, again in general.

I really replied to offer my 0.02 about the warranty thing( if that’s an option for you)- I had a Spider farmer light fail, the 100W dimmable evo. The power supply failed. They sent me a refurbished whole unit in 2 days and that was that- over a year after I bought it. Told me to keep the original and the warranty left from the first one carries over to the 2nd one.

Reached out to viparspectra, their 500W light when dimmed to 0%/off the reverse voltage makes the red/IR LEDS light up dimly during lights off- if you use a controller. They told me it is what it is and that’s normal.

My overall point is you could come out ahead by reaching out to warranty. They didn’t really give me any run around where viparspectra did. Those Drivers aren’t cheap and who knows, might come out with something extra or at the very least buy more time to find a suitable higher quality driver and keep the “replacement” as a back-up or something. just to give you something to ponder on.

Happy growing!

Well so far its been 3 days and i got a message from the. Then i sent them the message and no word yet

Yeah, If I remember correctly I sent them a message Wednesday and got a response Thursday night/Friday morning. Responded back Friday and didn’t hear from them until Tuesday/Wednesday with the replacement tracking number. All in all though it was about 8-9 days from initial contact to having the new unit in hand. Maybe I was lucky, I’m not sure about anything like that. Just wanted to mention they took care of me so that’s worth a shot in my book.

When I had an issue with a mars hydro light going out ( like 1/4th the light) within 2 years they offered me $20 off my next light from them, obviously wasn’t happy about that so I moved on.

I just wanted to put it out there that it’s worth a shot, they did me right anyway. I know some don’t, but they did me right.

Contact spider farmer. Their warranty has vastly improved.
Ive had 3 brand new speed controllers from them
But they are a pain to contact but they will eventually sort it out.

Yeah imma purchase another light in the mean time
