Hi guys,
I have a feminized banana kush plant here that I started from seed (of course, from ILGM). It is one of 9 plants in growing (4 banana kush, 5 purple haze). This is the only plant, that I have seen so far, showing these signs/symptoms. I’m hoping someone can tell me what deficiency or problem this is. Thanks a lot!
Let’s start with info.

Add anything else you feel would help us give you a most informed answer should be included. Feel free to elaborate, but short and to the point questions and facts will help us help you in a more efficient manner
Thanks!
Pay particular attention to: soil used, nutrients used, exact lighting wattage etc. Do you have digital PH and TDS meters?
What he said
I call it wiggle damage from fan. Or u asking about the brown spot or the extra dark green ?
And pic of whole plant please to help.
- What strain, Seed bank, or bag seed: mentioned above
- Method: Soil w/salt, Organic soil, Hydroponics, Aquaponics, KNF soil - FFOF
- Vessels: Pots, Grow beds, Buckets, Troths cloth pots
- PH of Water, Solution, runoff (if Applicable) always give water 6.4-6.6, Runoff NA
- PPM/TDS or EC of nutrient solution if applicable I don’t have ppm/tds however I haven’t given nutrients except for the last water (3 days ago). I use general hydroponics gro, micro and bloom - 1mL (per gallon) of each. And 2mL of CalMag. Again this was my first time feeding nutrients. Plants are 33 days old.
- Indoor or Outdoor indoor, 48x48x80”
- Light system **(2) 1500W BestvaDC, 24” above top of plants 18/6 schedule. **
- Temps; Day, Night 75-79 day, 68-70 night
- Humidity; Day, Night Set at 55% around the clock
- Ventilation system; Yes, No, Size yes, 6” approx 200 cfm
- AC, Humidifier, De-humidifier, NA, I wired exhaust fan to dehumidistat to keep humidity at 55%
- Co2; Yes, No No, but I do have intake air coming in the top periodically
Also want to add, I have a 6” oscillating exhaust fan 24” above plants on lowest setting. I have another 6” standard (non-oscillating) fan on low setting at the very top of the tent. It doesn’t even get to the plants, just keeps air moving
Here’s a picture of the whole plant. Sorry it isn’t natural lighting. But I’m just not sure what those brown spots are. There’s some in the leaf and some on the edges. Not on the tip of the leaf though
Do you have a fan in the tent circulating air? How strong is the breeze?
Sorry; blurple pics just don’t make it lol.
I suspect you are seeing some mechanical damage: rubbing of leaves in a mild breeze.
What I am concerned about is the dark leaves: they are saying you have plenty of nitrogen now so I would not be adding anything until the plant starts to lighten up a bit.
When I had blurple lights I would shut them off and use flash on phone camera and turn back on after pics. Sometimes it works , sometimes was dark picture.
Okay thank you very much. I must’ve started nutrients too soon. I will lay off.
I also will look into raising my oscillating fan. It’s from vivosun, their 6” oscillating fan. I had it on the low setting assuming I’d be safe. I’ll raise it up a bit so it doesn’t hit the plants so hard.
This is my first grow, so thank you For the help. Being my first grow, It’s easy to panic when I see something wrong
Here is a pic of deficiencies and over abundance of each nutrient. Click pic and zoom in to read on each one. Always verify with people if unsure. And proper ph is a must before any changes in nutrients. So always start with ph check first.
This pic I found on these forums. Forgot who posted it.
For future reference !!!
This Picture will come in handy, hard for me to tell and distinguish all the excesses/deficiencies. Thank you!
It all still confuses me. I use pic to get a close guess and then ask what others think. But for me it’s the same I always over feed which usually causes burn or brown spotting or my ph is out of whack which causes nutrient lockout and plant cant absorb the nutrients that are there.
Your plant is growing fairly compact (blue light). So it may not be possible to not have a little chafe here and there. It’s not really harming anything.
You want a gently breeze to cycle by, and gently move the leaves. If it’s rocking the whole plant, turn it down or move it back.
I’ll probably forever have the same battle. But doing as much research and reading as I can. The nutrient deal is tough
Okay thank you, I moved it up and they are moving way less. So I’m hoping this will help.
They seemed compact to me too, but again my first grow so I didn’t know for sure. When reading up on it, I read dense/compact plants are a good thing. Do you think these are too compact… if there’s such a thing?
IMHO it’s a personal preference. If you’re in a tent you may be concerned about headroom, so want shorter plants.
If the node spacing is too close there can be air circulation issues.
You can make the plant stretch more by turning on the flower switch as well as the veg switch, but honestly I wouldn’t be that concerned. It’ll stretch a bit in flower.
Okay thank you, I didn’t not know that about the bloom lighting. I am in a tent, I’ve been tying them down/LST. I’m trying to keep them somewhat compact. As long as it isn’t problematic, I think I might keep it going this way and see what happens
Everything looks good to me,
I wouldn’t move it: you are gonna want LOTS of airflow eventually. That’s just mechanical damage and extremely minor.
Here’s what I would suggest you concentrate on for your first grow: taking good notes of input liquid–both PH and TDS. Runoff as well. Especially with Fox Farms soils is recommended to flush at certain points. Knowing what the runoff values are can help with that and we can show you how.
Something experienced growers realize: less is more. It’s ‘sexy’ to dose our plants with chemicals thinking they’ll go off like dynamite but the reality is moderation when feeding, good monitor of what goes in and out, watch for issues and deal with as they occur.
Do some research on lighting. This is the single most important item. The state of the art is LED’s but not the bulk of offerings on Amazon. That category is a ripoff, frankly. There are other technologies out there that do well but generate considerable heat. You may be in a climate that could use some heat in the grow space. A lot of Canadian growers switch between depending on season.
Read other journals. There is a huge amount of info here and everyone on this forum wants to help out. You have a few good growers already looking at your thread. Tag folks in with the @ sign.
Most of all enjoy growing. It’s addictive.
