Leaf curling, nutrient issue?

Im new to growing and trying to get a handle on it . Anyway my plants fan leaves are curling under and appear to be getting a black hue to the leaf edges. The plants are tangerine dream and cotton candy kush, im using happy frog ff, a mars hydro ts 3000 , at 24" above canopy at 50% power just starting week 5, these plants are auto’s too.this is indoor 5x5 tent. Temp at 66-72, rh at 46%-55%. Is this a nutrient deficiency? Any help is appreciated

You’re going to want to get a PH pen so you PH your water. This is one of the single best investments you can buy for your grow. Cheap but very important. Need to know what it is going in and coming out so you know what adjustments to make.

After about a month the soil will be depleted of nutrients. You’ll want to buy a TDS pen so you can tell how much nutes is still in your soil and that will tell you how much to feed. Do you know what line a nutes you intend to use? Based on others feedback on this forum I would recommend Jacks 3 2 1 for ease.

I’ll get a ph pen and get back to you on that, your nutrient suggestion sounds good to me, i like to keep it simple😊, where can i get a ph pen?

Amazon has some good options. I wouldnt go super cheap. 60 bucks will get you a decent one. I have an apera and love it.

Apera 20 PH tester
Apera 60 tester

Both on Amazon
[APERA INSTRUMENTS AI209 Value Series PH20 Waterproof pH Tester Kit, ±0.1 pH Accuracy: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific](Amazon.com
I have a few PH testers, no all work well or reliably.

Apera 20 Ph tester Works great, fast and reliable
Vivosun PH poor design allowed for broken glass and slow reading, somewhat unreliable (broke now).
Blue labs PH digital tester, second to the Apera, but not waterproof like the Apera.

Good pointers from @HeyJB and @DEEPDIVERDAVE. I would ask what your watering routine is and on the days are you watering to ample run off. The run off will be what you’re checking for PH and PPMs in the medium. Most deficiencies are PH related and soil range is 6.2-6.8 with 6.5 being the sweet spot and soil must have a wet to dry cycle alternating water and feed days :love_you_gesture:

My routine was daily approximately a quart of water per 3 gallon pot with minimal runoff maybe half a cup, but i backed off this past week thinking i was over watering. Makes sense checking run off for nutrients was wondering how to check nutrient level, again thanx for all your help

It’s best to water and let the pots dry out before you water again. Check the weight of the pot Before & After watering you will get a good feel when to water. I usually go about 3 days but it also depends on environment and size of pot. Good luck my friend ! :v:

Just wondering if you’ve got a fan closer to that one.
Appears to me to be more of a wind curl than nutes.

Overwatering is contributed to frequency not amount. Smaller vessels will dry sooner than larger ones and a good pointer from @kellydans on when to water or feed again. Run off should be approximately 20% of what you’re putting in and I let a cup run out before I catch a sample for testing. A TDS pen and PH pen will be needed for both run off and mixing nutrients. BlueLab makes an excellent TDS pen and Apera 20 is a great inexpensive PH pen. Each growth stage has a PPM level and deficiencies are easier to correct than toxicity but in my limited experience the PH is critical. Out of range and nutrient absorption will suffer or not happen at all :love_you_gesture:

Funny you should ask that, as a matter of fact i have a clip on 6" ac infinity oscillating fan and that plant is the closest to it, but i do have it on low setting 3 out of 10

Your plants look a little heavy on nitrogen to me. The leaf tips will turn downward, before the leaf gets the claw look. Too much wind looks similar but it usually comes with dried out leaf edges. Also it looks like the tips are turning down on all of the plants.
I think you should follow the watering technique from the previous post. Now that you have that ph meter. Adjust the ph on your water to 6.5 before watering. Stay with plain water until they start to look hungry before using nutrients.
Don’t overreact, like I used to do. Actually your plants look petty good for your first go at it.

Thanks for the advise, i will follow that. Does the pen usually come with ph adjustment drops? Never thought to check that and never used a ph pen
