My setup for my first indoor grow

Planning on growing wedding cake auto feminized in this vivosun 4x2 tent under the vivosun 100w LED light. I’m using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil mixed with a little diatomaceous earth. I want to know if I can plant a seed directly into the ffof soil and cover it with a humidity dome to germinate the seed. Or if I should soak the seed in a glass of bottled water until the taproot shows before I plant it into the ffof? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Yes you can, takes a little longer to crack but if you soak the soil around where you plant the seas and keep the humidity high you shall be fine. If not so confident do one in the water also just in case you have a dud

Ready to see whatcha got cooking in that tent. Looks short. Unless the ceiling is high. I always start my seeds in a glass of water then move to wet paper towels then put into the dirt. So far 100%. Also wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a small humidifier in there.

I’ve had 100% success germinating with 12-24h soak in a cup of water with a drop or two of h2o2 then drop them in the “soil” with or without a tail root. Supposedly it helps break open old dry seeds. Do what you feel most comfortable with, people like the soak method, paper towel method and the direct deposit method, take your pick and keep the humidity at/around 70%

Welcome to the neighborhood!

I’m a fan of just placing the seed in a wet paper towel and place it in a zip lock bag and typically by day 2ish I have a decent size tap root. This method at least lets you see the root before dropping it in the medium. I’ve done direct drops and it’s a waiting game and guessing if the seed will pop or not :love_you_gesture:

Goooood mornin! You can sow your seeds directly, but I recommend doing like @OGIncognito and getting it started before planting. Another thing is FFOF is pretty loaded and kinda hot for seedlings. If you notice blemishes in her early life it is most likely just a little overload.

Every one else has you covered, but I would advise you to look at more light soon, that one will not be enough for flowering. Shoot for 50 watts per square ft. 400 watts for your 2x4. 2 200 watts may be better for the floor size. Good luck!

I agree.

Also want to point out that you have a lot of flexible duct and a sharp bend in it. The bend and excessive length will both increase the static load on your fan and have a negative impact on the cfm. Seeing that you already have filter in tent I would also put the fan inside and just use a short piece of duct in line to complete your ventilation circuit and then go out the side of your tent.

Trying to dial in my grow tent as I am waiting for my wedding cake feminized auto flower seed to germinate. I am using a coffee cup filled with bottled water on a heating pad covered with a Ziploc bag in a dark cabinet. Is been soaking for just over 20 hours so far. I am also going to be putting another seed of the same strain directly in the FoxFarm Ocean Forest (FFOF)soil. I’m not 100%aure I want to germinate 2 of the same seed though. I have a Seedsman “Jealousy Fast” seed feminized Photoperiod. Im going to just plant the Jealousy Fast seed into the ffof and water it in with water pH’d at 6.

Next month I am going to buy another vivosun vs1000 light. Which is the same 150w LED full spectrum light. I plan on daisy chaining them together for 300watts total. I think that will cover the entire 2x4 tent.
