Can I germinate a Wedding Cake feminized autoflower seed directly in FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil

I have vivosun 5 gallon grow bags that I plan on filling with Fox farm ocean forest soil and diatomaceous earth. I was wondering if I could pop a wedding cake feminized autoflower seed directly in the soil or should I drop the seed in a glass of bottled water and then plant it in the ffof soil after it already shows the taproot?

You can, but FFOF isn’t really recommended to start autos. It’s hot stuff and can burn them up a little in the beginning, slowing then down a little. Happy Frog is a good starter. A lot of growers will do a top layer of Happy Frog so the first few days are a little more gentle.

People do it both ways. I prefer to see my tap Root going into the soil so I do the paper towel germination method for a couple days and then stick the tap Roots down in there

I really appreciate all the advice and I think I will definitely get a bag of fox farm happy frog for the next seed. At the moment I have a wedding cake feminized autoflower seed soaking in bottled water. It’s been soaking in a coffee cup on a heating pad sitting in the dark cabinet. The weather is getting colder here in western North Carolina and I thought the warmth of the heating pad would keep the water from getting too cold.. I was also wondering if I should water the entire 7 gallon fabric pot with water pH’d at 6 before I drop the seed after it shows taproot ? Thank you again for any advice that you all may have . It is Greatly Appreciated
