My personal grow journal

As I see it Deb being 40 days old is about 7 inches tall now. The soil seems to have begun to dry up after I watered the girls on Saturday. Meg I think is about 5 inches tall. They are spread out though as I have LST them to flatten out the branches.

Is she showing any lady parts? She is 41 days old. I plan on sending her to flower in no sooner than 5 weeks from now and possibly as much as 2 months. Then I will put them both to flower.

The bigger the plant, the larger the harvest!

Yes but I am on a time limit as well. I leave for Korea the middle of September. I will need to have this harvested dried and cured and stored. I won’t be able to touch it for two months.

I will play it by ear but 2 months is a max. The Maui is a week younger and hasn’t shown quite as much reach as the Durban. I am really pleased with how the Durban is growing. I don’t think the Maui likes my soil much. It will probably be a stressed flower. I think I might start investing in the hydroponic method. With the amount of weed I hope to get from these two plants could last me a year or more. Even with all the experiments I want to do. I also have a buddy that has weed coming out of his ears. I also live in legal recreational state with stores unlike a couple of legal rec states.

You got plenty of time

Well so far they are still going well. The Durban wasn’t in any distress but the 5 gallon pot was very light so she got a full watering at 6.5 PH. I checked my run off PH and it was first measured at 5.36 PH but later I left my empty collection bowl to get the last of the drops so I don’t drip all over the place I measured that run off at 5.6 PH. I think that is an improvement. I honestly don’t think I will ever use this soil for pot again. If I grow again indoors it will be hydroponic. I will have to do a lot of planning and no matter I have the rest of my life to do another grow.

Anyway my LST of the Durban has given the opportunity to have a very low canopy to begin I think. I have no idea if it is good or bad. The plants do look great. The Maui is still smaller than I would like but… she is still solid green and has a healthy smell. There are no insects or anything. I just think that this soil is just not weed friendly. Especially the Maui.

I really do love the looks of the Durban as well with the exception of the very tips of a few leaves. They had a brown dry appearance. I am guessing that it was a sign that the lights could move up just a bit and she was getting thirsty.

Has anyone done a Maui Wowie in a hydro grow?

So yesterday I watered the Durban Poison and this morning I watered the Maui Wowie. I am not unhappy with their growth since I have no idea what I am doing. I know now that my soil probably had a lot to do with my height challenge. Although as I am thinking on it I am not unhappy with the growth either. The plants look very healthy still. No sign that they are under any stress. There is a light pungent odor but it is really very light at this point. At least to my nose.

Those pictures are the Maui. The branches that I expect to shoot out look again like they are beginning to make some movement. I hope to have a fantastic finish. It would be a terrible disappointment to work this hard and spend this much money only to fail.

Here is the Durban Poison again. She still looks very happy.

As this is really a first time I am learning as I go along. It all started wrong and with a too acidic a soil as I have I am fighting an uphill battle. It is too late to start over with new soil so I am just going to have to live with it. Let’s hope I can get the girls to flower and give me a decent yield. I would like 6 ounces from each plant. Since I have been learning on the fly. I just can tell that this isn’t just any ordinary plant.

Another day and the Durban is drinking water quickly. The pot is considerably lighter. The Maui is still drinking but not as much. I think I am going to hold off watering until the pot becomes very light again. I think this will be the entire week from yesterday. The Maui just needs to work a bit more on the roots.

Looking at the Maui she is falling behind just a bit. It isn’t going to change my schedule. When I think the Durban is ready for flower is when they both will go.

Since they are not autos the Maui will just have to adapt.

I am definitely not growing in soil next time. At least not traditional soil. I am thinking that I will use a coco and perlite mix and use a drip irrigation feed to waste hydro. It will not be for a while so I am going to work on putting together a list of components I need and put the design on paper.

I know I will need a lot of stuff. I thought about a DWC but that one scares me a bit too much. I am really a newbie and that is an advanced grow. The drip irrigation method though is a simpler method from what I have seen in research. It is also more forgiving.

Allot of things in life can be scary.

Go get yourself a 27 gallon tote with a lid, make sure the tote and lid are heavy duty.

Get some 4" “net pots”

Thanks but… I will take it just one step at a time @TDubWilly.

@Killadruid this is my grow journal. A Durban Poison and a Maui Wowie.

I will be running dwc in the future but I think this will be great for mother plants also. Going to run dwc when i do the clones for quick growth. With the drip system u can get used to hydroponics while staying in a medium and pots. Then i think when u get that figured out a bubble bucket or bubble tote would be an awsome idead.

@Killadruid I might watch your DWC and change my mind. I plan to grow one at a time maybe two but that is a lot of weed.

So for today I checked the two girls. The Durban pot is much lighter. I am also seeing a little nutrition deficiency. She hasn’t been given any nutes since planting. She is almost 6 weeks old. She was watered three days ago.

The leaves are not as yellow as they appear. The leaves are slightly lighter green on the outer edges not the veins of the leaves just the spaces in between and really just a little lighter.

The Maui is 5 weeks old and I will give her food Saturday I think.

So far so good. At least the girls are still green.

This is a shot at dirt level.

I’d go with something different than rockwool. I have found them to hold just too much water that leads to problems. Considering rapid rooters. But yea DWC is WAY easier. I use Walmart 5gal buckets with 3” net pots. Almost boring with the right nutes. GH fort a trio hits and holds pH without adjustment for the 7-14 days in my buckets. Then it’s just maintaining water level during the week.

Okay please forgive me on this. I am still a newbie what do you mean with GH fort a trio?

I like the idea that It holds PH throughout the week. That part I didn’t know. Okay so rockwool isn’t your favorite. What would you recommend? I was thinking coco and perlite or lava pellets.

It does sound easier. I will have to look at that a bit more.

Auto correct. GH Flora Trio. I’d skip the soilless. That you still need to monitor pH/PPM outputs. DWC is still easier.

For seed starters - rapid rooters. For support in the netcups - hydroton
