My little auto on my first tent grow attempt

I hijacked another guys thread before i found how to post. Guess i haven’t smoked enough yet today. Haha
I’m growing a Watermelon OG Auto in a small 2x2 tent, 100 watt ufo led light, not sure the cfm on the exhaust but it’s 4".
I have it in a 3.5 gal bucket. Tent says can grow 2 but that didn’t work, had to put the other outside and hope it don’t frost or can put it in the building till temp comes up during the day.
Using Fox Farm soil, have same brand nutes but not used yet.
Just wanted to post a pic of my 22 day old little girl.
Any tips are appreciated, i already got several on the thread i accidentally hijacked.
My cuz named her Bushy. Fits pretty well I think.
These are from this morning, one is after i turned it. I had forgot to turn it for 2 days. Doh!

Plant looks good…make sure you have lots of holes in the bottom and sides of the bucket. When you think you have enough…add more.

Good luck

I agree they do look good and definitely agree with risk Guy saying to drill holes, each one of my buckets probably has 200 holes in it

A 2x2 tent can handle 2 plants, but your 100-watt light is no bueno por ka-ka.

Looking good, it’s definitely possible to grow 2 plants in a 2x2 but they are your plants and you can probably read them better than I can. I would look at your PAR/DLI with that 100w light. I learned the hard way that 100w just isn’t enough for cannabis and I see a lot of shade being cast from your leaves.

Thanks for the info! I have a few in the bottom, maybe 3 but i can put a few more on the sides toward the bottom.
May have to find a deeper saucer as this one fills up fast but goes back up sorta quick. Gotta try to max this with what i have which isn’t much. Forgot to add It’s on a 18/6 light cycle since I started it.
I have a 4x4x72 still in the box, waiting to get a light and also to myself that i can prove I can tent grow.
Outside I’ve had great success in the past. I’m trying to learn all the little nuances to the tent. Lot more work to start and a lot more pricey but it’ll pay off i think to help keep me going to the dispo. I just wasn’t able health wise to get any going outdoors this year, do have one I started with the other that’s not gonna do much as It’s a scrawny little thing. Oh well, It was a free seed.
The one in the tent seems to be doing ok for a bit over 3 weeks I think.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll get out there and get more in it. I had a 5 gal bucket with a bunch on the bottom but the tent is too small for much of anything so went to 3.5gal.

Gotta agree with you there!
Nice name by the way! lol
I’m gonna get another for my bigger tent, just gonna use what i have till then.
I got the whole set up cheap so i wasn’t expecting much.

Here’s the little lady today. Looks better than yesterday i think.
Any advice on trimming some fan leaves, I’ll take any advice i can get.
Thanks in advance!
Also, i could only reply twice for my first day, that’s why i didn’t post any until this morning.

Thanks for the info!
Should I trim some of the fan leaves and which ones?
New to the tent part but willing to learn all i can.
Have always had good luck outside, can’t do it now till the fence goes up and it’ll be next year. I have the tent in the 10x20 building. Hoping it don’t stink up the neighborhood. Lol
I have another filter and one for the end on the way. Worth a try, the other filter is prob over 2 years old and i figure it’s prob not very good now.
Thanks again!

Wouldn’t hurt to remove the bottom fans.

Thank You.
I figured those would be fine to go but wasn’t touching them til i got the word.
I’ll take care of them when i go out again. Try to stay out as much as possible but didn’t have any rain water or filtered water this morning, gotta go get a few gallons.
Gonna get some nice rains this eve and tomorrow. Hope to get some rain water collected to mix with the other.

Any fan leaves covering a cola need to at least be pushed out of the way and have access to direct light, after that it’s personal preference to reduce mold risks. Do some Googling about PAR, PPFD, and DLI as the 2 biggest parts of indoor growing is the light and the nutrients, as you have grown outside you should know what you need about nutrients/water so now you need to get into the trenches of THE LIGHT! Once you learn the way of the light you should have some confidence in your 4x4.

As for what leaves you may want to remove, here is my suggestion based on your pic. She looks much better already imo

Just in case lyou don’t find what you need with your own Google search I can at least tell you my light situation.

I run my ladies in light all day with no night, it’s my first run so I’m lazy. So with 24 hours of light I give them around 550-600 PAR/PPFD which gives us a rough DLI of 50-55 which is around what the charts I’ve found say for flowering. GLGL

Thank you got all that detailed info!
I’ll def get the stuff to measure all that, actually looking now.
Also, thanks for circling the ones to trim. I wasn’t really sure, this auto is so different than anything I’ve ever grown so I’m trying to learn as much as possible.
Just glad i found this group, super helpful already!!!
Yeah, the light i have in the 2x2 sucks but is what it is.
I’ll prob have to run at least a cpl more in this till I can get a light for the 4x4.
I know you pay for what you get but those things are higher than I am. That’s pretty up there. Lol
I’ll get it dialed in, just taking a bit of time to adjust to this and the auto.
Not expecting a lot, just save a little at the dispo i hope.

Here is the tool I use:

I’m also new, but due to certain nural-untypicalness I have absolutely devoured information on autos and indoor growing and am also just now putting that knowledge into practice for the first time. I think we all can agree that our first grows are our learning experiences and we all can improve our techniques.

Here’s a picture of what I’m growing right now, it’s a bit jank but it’s mine and it makes me happy.

As you can see I also had a 100w light on them but mine was a blurple one so that kept them short and bushy, lights are super important.

Those look awesome as F!!!
I agree, I’ve found out finding the right light for my new one that won’t break the bank but not found one I’m sure about or feel good enough to order.
I know there’s gotta be a cheaper light out there than the name brands. I can hope anyway.
Found several that say they’ll work on a 4x4 but not sure.
May try used or something.

Here’s one that was recommended to me unfortunately my space is just too small for it. I ended up with a spiderfarmer for a 3x3 that just barely fits my space. I was told you want to look for minimum/around 50-100w per square foot of grow space.

@Growdoc should be able to give you better info on lights than I can.

Szhlux makes different sizes, down to a 400 that fits smaller tents, all without breaking the bank!

Thanks! I was looking at that brand earlier, it was smaller but stuff it would cover a 4x4 grow area. Around 200ish or so, that’s closer to what i can spend.
I’ve found some awesome ones that i can’t afford. One day maybe.
I’ll have to look and see which one i was looking at.
Appreciate the info very much.
I’ve learned not to cheap out on the light. I got a good tent, only planning on growing like 3 at a time. That should be enough for me, i hope. If not, dispo is about a mile away.
