@Bulldognuts, truly appreciate your input. i mixed up a batch of Cal-Mag based on Bill Ward’s You tube video’s. it’s fermenting in the cupboard as we speak. hope to be able to give the girl a drink of that concoction soon.
yes, i have brown spots appearing on my top leaves ONLY. my plant has filled my 2 x 2 tent and i can’t raise my light any further, there is no room. i initially thought that my plant may be too close to my light, causing a burn on the leaves. i’m not sure now?
again, any input is always appreciative. regards, john
white widow auto update. been givin the girl correct doses of nutrients. from my previous question/comment: my top leaves on the main kola turned brown. i removed the worst of them, but there are still a few left. guess i’ll just leave those alone for now. as far as the rest of the plant, she looks good, i think. no spots or browning of leaves.
i think i’m in my third week of flowering, but i don’t know for sure. this is my first grow and i really didn’t know what to look for. i’m not exactly sure how long the flowering cycle is either. keeping an eye on her. taking it day by day.
also, wanted to thank everyone in the forum for their input. always grateful and appreciative. thanks bunches
@farmerjohn Your looking very good imo. You still have a way to go. May the grow Gods be with you
@Dman1969, thanks for your input. much appreciated. good to know everything is looking good. and as far as “i have a ways to go”, again had no idea. i thought i was ready to harvest the girl. if you could, " what is a ways to go"? two weeks, a month, etc? any input appreciated. regards my friend
Just keep an eye one the pistols when they start getting mostly amber and shrinking your really close. Then you want to look at the trichomes with with a jewelers loop 60x magnification or similar device.
Think you have at least a month to go if not longer. There just starting to fatten up now.
hey @Dman1969, truly appreciate the feedback. ill be watching the girl closely over the next few weeks. i do have a 60x magnification lens to look at the trichomes. i know the main kola has turned somewhat amber, but all the little sisters are still white to milky white. and thanks for the clarification on the time frame. again, just no idea what to look for. peace brotha!
I think the Calmag is good too because the plant still requires some nitrogen as well. Those leaves that get damaged are sorta good to keep on the plant, unless they are totally dead, because the plant will use them as a sacrifice for the good of the rest of the plant. I know everyone prefers a textbook looking marijuana plant but…
If you have the money the next upgrade should be your light. If for no other reason blurple sucks to look at. Its also difficult to diagnose issues under. Looking joint worthy though me likey likey!
@Cannabian, mucho gracias!!! didn’t realize the dead leaves would be sacrificed by the plant. that’s interesting. i had removed them already, there were only three to four of them, the rest has stayed on the plant. i’ve got my Cal-Mag down to a science, making my own, based on Bill Wards (YouTube) concoction. tweaking my feeding of nutes to the girl though. might have went a bit heavy on the MaxiBloom at first, eased that back a bit too.
my next investment is a TS-2000 along with a 3x3x6 tent. the small 2x2x4 for my first grow just isn’t large enough, even for one plant. my leaves were touching the sides of the tent.
appreciate the feedback brotha!!!
Stay within budget but remember not to throw good money into something that wont meet your expectations. Before you buy your next light please talk to @dbrn32 he will give you the straight goods on how best to spend those hard earned dollars.
thank you brotha@ cannabian. every piece of advice much appreciated
i have lost most of my fan leaves on both my first two grows, but for different reasons. the first time i burned the heck out of the plants by giving too much nutes while i was using super soil. i wanted big luscious plants and paid the price for doing what i wanted, not what the plant wanted. my second grow i was growing blue dream which is a notorious nitrogen hog. because of my first grow i was going to make sure that i didn’t feed the blue dream nutes until it begged for them. of course i overdid it and lost most of my sun leaves on my plants a little after they were half way thru flowering. it made trimming them for harvest a lot easier but of course i was not happy. you should have yellow leaves on your flowering plants because the plant will use them to help build buds. even with the yellow leaves i still got 14 ounces from 5 plants in a 4x4x6 tent.
there are a couple different philosophies about pruning yellowed or “dead and dying” leaves. some believe that once most of the leaf has turned yellow it is better to take that leaf off than have the plant waste energy keeping it alive. it is better for the plant to put that effort into new leaves or buds. others say to leave them as the plant will use them to help build the buds. so take your pick.
hello @monkman thanks for the feedback. always appreciative. no yellow leaves yet. will be keeping an eye out for those. i’ve watched several video’s online and from what i can tell, most growers are removing the yellow leaves. and i’ll probably remove them. i want all the energy going to the buds. thanks for the heads up man. peace brotha!
@dbrn32 tagging you in my thread. need your input on LED lighting please. from what i’m reading on various threads, HLG is the way to go. i was originally looking at the Mars-Hydro product line, the TSW or TSL 2000.
as far as tent sizes, i’ve been leaning towards the 3x3x6. i’m also considering the 4x2x6 tent. my grow space is limited in height, ceiling height being seven foot.
is there any other information you need please? any recommendations? thanks in advance. always appreciative
For either I would consider doing something with qb 120 or 132. Pretty easy build and comes in lower end for cost in that space. Either would be very diffuse light, so you could run them pretty close if need be. For a 3x3 you would build into a square, for 2x4 build into straight line.
@dbrn32 thanks for the input and advice. i’ll do my due diligence and research. from what i’m reading and my understanding, this is a self build on the lights, correct? as always, truly appreciative of your input & sharing of your knowledge and information. thanks man! peace
Ya, I think @imSICKkid and @GreenJewels have both documented builds with them here. A few others too, just slips my mind.
@dbrn32 thank you. will give their threads a look at. see how they did it. i’ve also looked at the HLG website and i’ve found the qb 120 and 132 data and specs. reading up on that too.
Love my 120s in the 3k spectrum. If you need help on dimensions or the build I will gladly help as well. Super easy light to build and wire up.
@imSICKkid thanks man. just looking at your thread. the 3x6 tent. assuming you went with that size. also assuming you have a minimum of two 120s or do you have more than that? appreciate the feedback. i may be reaching out to you on the build of the lights and wiring. it doesn’t look complicated and i am handy. re-wired my house with a little bit of help from a more qualified individual. again, thanks man!
