My Humboldt Abode

I personally would change the lights and time and let them be. Jmo though

Time increase should do it. Can hedge your bets with some B vitamins (Superthrive, kelp or aloe) to re focus auxins on rooting/vegetative state. Damage cues this as well, but I wouldn’t pinch tops before giving B’s to reduce on stress.

I stumbled upon the Superthrive trick on accident. Tossed some extra veg water on an outdoor pot and the damn thing reverted on me.

Thanks! That’s good to know and fingers crossed. I’ve got the advanced nutrient B vitamin supplement already too, so easy enough. Lights just went off but I’ll hit them with it tonight.

Realized I haven’t posted any full photos of the mothers in awhile. Tried to get some better shots of the potential bud sites too. Either way they’ve been living the feed and extra light. It does seem like some sites might be reverting to veg like growth but hard to tell. Honestly they might just be at a later stage of veg maturity than in used to.

So I’m thinking I should harvest this week. They’re week 9 of flower which is actually when the breeder claimed. I expected 11 weeks if they estimated 9, but they might be right on the money. Evie is starting to show some decent amber and her calyx all appear swollen. Flora is just starting to show amber and starting to think her top calyx are swollen but she has a different bud structure. With Evie showing traditional indica growth patterns and Flora showing traditional sativa characteristics it makes sense to harvest Flora with less amber to me too. Am I too early on Flora though? Thinking about chopping Evie Wednesday.

Main girls are still holding strong. Honestly not even sure if I’ll pull this week at this point. Fed today though and going to keep watching trichomes. They mostly super cloudy to me, but not really milky. I even tried to calibrate my eye with the clones at 6 weeks, but honestly those look frosty and cloudy too. They’re fading really slowly too and I’d hate to pull early. Evie’s limbs have started falling too though and starting to worry about buds on buds. I’ll post some trichome photos tomorrow or Thursday and see what y’all think. Earliest I’d pull at this point is Friday night.

Most of the clones are looking happy with a slight fade on the bottom of a few. One of the Flora clones started showing really have signs of Nitrogen deficiency though. Have her a good feed last night but honestly looked worse this morning. Thinking I’ll do a flush with a plain gallon of water next feed. I will say it’s mainly larger older leaves and the younger leaves still seem pretty healthy. Also maybe too much light? 7 weeks from flip. Thinking about turning down the intensity anyways for the ripening.

Bonsai mothers are looking away happier. Gave some more B vitamins and have them a much needed trim.

Would love everybody’s thoughts! Struggling with timing to harvest. Am I crazy to chop this weekend? Do these need another week?

I was starting to see some amber pop through last week and figured I’d definitely be in the window this week. The fade has basically stalled on Evie though and even though her tops have significant amber populating on the bud structure I’m still seeing some clear in her lower buds. Flora on the other hand seems to be close on trichomes but still has some tops that aren’t fully expanded yet. Both had some new growth with white hairs pop this week.

I frequently take some and leave some.
I dry in small batches (1-oz).
Time invested is precious, no hurry?

More anxious than hurried. Just don’t want to mess up the last step because I know they’re close.

I’ll be able to do that with the clones, but I have to move them to the flower tent to dry in the 3x3, so unfortunately I really need to harvest boost of these at the same time. Any guess on what you think the timing might be for the window?

They look like there in the window. If I was needing the space I’d harvest, but i personally would want more amber and less clear trichomes.

Thanks! Yeah I was hoping to wait until the clears disappeared. Just a little worried with how much amber is appearing on top. Leaning towards waiting the week. I only need the space once I start harvesting so no rush for that.

I dont see a lot of amber. I see a few here and there, but not even 1%. I go for 10 to 20% I’m looking for an all around kind of buzz that I can smoke in the morning to get me going, smoke during the day to keep me going and at night to help me relax. I want a good strong pain killer, but not couch lock. I usually split harvest to get slightly different effects. I also like to let some of the larf buds go an extra 2-3 weeks to get some couch lock bud. Sometimes I mix it all together so I dont know what I’m pulling out of the bag.

Honestly looking for the exact same thing. Full body high that doesn’t have me racing around or stuck to the couch. I’ve read where some people basically pull them the second they see amber on the buds to avoid couch lock. I was starting to see the same 1-5% but wasn’t sure how quickly the rest turn once a few show up. Good to know they can go further though and honestly do want a strong body buzz.

Theres gonna be some amber way before its ready. I want nearly all of the clear to turn cloudy. Usually at first sings of amber there’s still a bunch of clear. At 10% amber there’s still a few clear. Just enough for some good pick me up weed. 20% gives me a better all around buz.

I personally like the 10% to 20% amber, but I like the calming in the evening. Not much of a daytime smoker, but if I was, I would be growing Sativa dominant plants and picking at about 5% amber. To much clear causes anxiety and paranoia with me.

Thanks! Yeah it’s a hard mix because I smoke for anxiety and stress management so I definitely don’t want it doubling down but also can’t be couch locked during the day. I also use it for general pain management and sleep too though. I used to smoke more sativa dominant strains exclusively and something that hit like a 70/30 sativa hybrid was my go to. Now though I’m leaning more 60/40 indica dominant strains. I can smoke more if it without anxious spells. Plus I don’t really like when it “energizes” me so much anymore, I want to be chilled out but functional. I take nicotine and caffeine to boost my energy levels and then cannabis to bring me back down. I’ll probably let a few of the clones go way past for my zzz stash. I’m not sure I did the best job showing the amber I was seeing either. I’m not great with the microscope so I end up with more fuzzy than clear pictures when I go to post. I think they were in the 5 ish to maybe even 10 % range on some of the higher more exposed bud material. I’m letting them run through the week though to hopefully get that closer to a 10-20%. I’ve decided I’m chopping by Thursday though. It’ll be 11 weeks from the flip and I’m just getting too many limbs collapsing for my sanity and comfort level. I think they should already be low enough clear that it won’t make me zoomy like my dog.

From the photos were you thinking I’d need more than a week?

I would definitely go another week. Just my opinion though. You can always try chopping a few buds and let the others go another week and see if that fits your needs.

Thanks again! I’ll keep monitoring the Trichomes and post some more pictures on Wednesday then before I do anything. If you’re around would definitely love thoughts. Also I know you’re up in the Michigan area. If you’re ever near Alden I’d love to get a more experienced growers thoughts once she’s all cured and ready.

I know I’ll get a sense for it eventually but man this is personally the worst part of the grow for me. I guessed they’d be a week out almost a month ago and every week since. Starting to drive me crazy a little honestly. Need some jeweler’s glasses instead of a single loop at this point.

Here’s the updated trichome shots. Planning to chop tomorrow, I think they just made it in with the additional amber I’m seeing. What do ya’ll think?

I tried to take mainly from lower buds on the stem that weren’t in direct light but also grabbed a couple on each from the top. Flora still has a little clear showing and both have some minor new growth but I think they’re there.
